Hi Bryan,

My piccies were taken from my RS2000 delivered to me on the 9th of May 1980 brand new. The seats and the tilt forward levers are definitely original fitted to this car.

Maybe there were other design levers also, but not sure.

The other version lever down near the recliner knob were the same Scheel seats, however were either earlier or later version seats. Some people say earlier, others say later. I tend to think the version with the lever half way up the seat are the later version, however I may be incorrect. A mate has an October 1980 build RS2000 with a completely tracable history. His levers are the same as mine, half way up the seat.

thanks Peter...i would tend to agree that i believe the levers half way up the back would be a later version simply because it is easier to work (less/no bending of the back to tilt). I only recently purchased my seats as my originals are probably in TAS somewhere...so yeah i am just trying to find out what is original and what i may need to be changing to look more original when i finally start my beast....

Cheers

Hello Bryan,

I am positive that the levers that I put up in the photos dated 16/4/10 on this thread are the correct levers for the Scheel seats (for the version seat with the tilt forward lever half way up the side of the seat).

Reason/Reference:
The photos are of the Scheel seats in my RS2000 delivered to me brand new on May 9, 1980, which I still own. These seats are the exact same seats fitted when the car was delivered to me brand new.

ta, peter.

The anything wasn't questioning about the originality of yours or mine...im happy to get ones like yours im just wondering if anyone has had in moment on the levers or will it just get lost in the archives....

Appears now i would be after 2 more so 4 sets of these so im keen (to say the least from my questioning on here!! )

Hello Bryan,

I am more than interested in making exact copies of these levers.
Won't be a problem. I was hoping that someone would have a lever not attached to an expensive seat so that I can take a mould of.

I have a Plan B to take a mould from my lever in situ in the car if necessary. Won't be a problem either.

Just at the moment I am very busy side tracked putting the finishing touches to a special mould so that we can reproduce (exactly) the rubber RS2000 rear bootlid spoilers.

A few more weeks will be needed until I can start a new project.

Peter, (and everyone...)

I found the Scheel number on google and decided to ring it and try my luck with asking if they had spares for our seats....and to my surprise a young guy answer and says he now owns the business (since about 6 months) and has spares in the warehouse somewhere and if not still has the mouldings to be able to manufacture new ones! Well this is what i am told and he said when i asked about the particulars that we would be after to send a picture so he can look for them...so i sent him a copy of ur side lever along with some other pics of parts i would like...will try and follow up tomorrow or early next week to see how he has gone with it....

Cheers

Hello James,

Yep, keeping it quiet at the moment though. [;^)]

The mould will be completed tommorrow (Saturday), however I still have a steep learning curve on how to use the rubber material and injecting it into to mould at exactly the correct temperature. But it is all doable....

Hello Bryan,

Great thinking "99" !

Let us know how you go.

If he has a stock of the levers then maybe we can raid his left over NOS.

Well i thought if he "Scheel" has the moulds and makes the levers or anything for that matter, then they are still original as it is still the same company and same moulds...but yes i know what you mean about NOS...didn't get onto him today so it will be next week but fingers are crossed....

Hi all, Just spoke to Manuel who's the new owner of Scheel Seats. He has plenty of lefts in stock and will have new rights arrive next week. You can still contact him on the old number 02 9439 8308 or his mobile is 0415 795 804. He has moved the factory to 5/10 Montore Rd, Minto.
Cheers, David.

As did i just then and had said that someone else had rung about them. I have emailed him some pics of the parts that im after which include the pic of peters lever.

He said he is shifting all the stock at the moment and going thru it all as he does. So if he finds it then he'll ring me and let me know either way, and if he does then he thinks he can get them or get them made with the orginal mould.

So i should hopefully find out by the end of this week.

I guess the two of us David, were told slightly differing things but ah well hopefully all will pan out soon

Cheers
