Yeah I noticed your bad fortune with regards to the balancer - that sucks alot!

Still, should be a great result once it's all completed. It's going to fly!

nice pics turned out good, doesnt that just give u the craps when you go to fix something then you find out you got a whole bunch of other parts that needs to be done.

youll have to give me a head-up when you head out to willowbank next time, be good to take my new car out there see how it goes up against the 33.

Yeah it's pretty annoying, but at least I picked it up before it had the chance to fly off...that would've been far worse haha.

What's your new car mate? I'm curious!

I might have jumped in to the RB30 idea too quickly. I knew there was machining to do in regards to an oil gallery for the VCT but I want the car on the road sooner rather than later, and it'll take me a while to save up the proper cash to make the RB30 work. Anyway I've been referred on to an engine builder who does a lot of RB's and after talking with him it'll be cheaper to build my RB25 bottom end, put some valve springs in, a good water pump and oil pump so it'll spin to 8000rpm all day every day.

I told the engine builder that I want to do 10s and he's assured me he can make it happen. This made me happy.

I'm sure I'll change my mind again anyway...

yer it is but that is very true that you did pick it up,

sold the daily escort and got this http://classic-ford.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20873

well if you can achieve 10's out of your 25 thats defiantly a respectable street car for sure.

That looks great! 12.5 is unreal too! Do you know what mph it did the 12.5 at? Should be bundles of fun mate.

The engine builder said with my suspension set up he can make 10s happen with no dramas. I'm just waiting on the quote now. Hopefully I can afford to go in to the 10s [88]

yer iam happy with it looks standard and not like a drift car, ummm he did say mph but i forgot but thats just by going off him wether or not it does it is another thing thats why i would like to find out for myself :)

yer if you want to go any lower then a 10, people say that you can pretty much say your looking at 10grand a second, still 10-11 sec that is a fairly bloody quick street car nothin to laugh about at all. I thought you had this up for sale?

Time for an update!
I ordered a RIPS RB30 bottom end with some extra goodies inside plus a high capacity sump. RB30's require an extra oil gallery for the VCT if you're putting the RB25 head on, but rather than do that I've been a man about it and I am converting the head to solid lifter which gives me more cam choices. This means the baby Tomei cams I bought at the start of the year and never got around to using are being sold and I've ordered some Tomei Procams (270deg 10.25mm), solid lifters and Tomei valve springs rated at 9500rpm.

I was going to have the head ported and put some bigger valves in but it really isn't necessary for what I want the car to do, plus I think I've already spent enough money on it this year!

500hp at the tyres is my goal and I know it will achieve it, however a lot of people are telling me that the 35/40 won't hold up at 500hp for long. I don't believe them, but if they're right then my plan is to use a Borg Warner S366 or S400. Guys in the States are making good 1/4 times on BW turbos in Supras so they seem to be pretty good and a heck of a lot cheaper than a GT42R or something like that.

More updates to come when the bottom end turns up from NZ!

I wouldn't believe them either...... A 3540 is a 700hp turbo and has supported 500 +hp at the treads many times on many different engine combos.

Do you no what A/R the exhaust housing is? this will be your only limiting factor to what this turbo is capable of.

Hell........ im only 80hp shy of 500 at the treads with a 1.6L

Hahaha Mark it's a little bit different to a VN! Only a bit...

It's a .86 rear housing. It'll make 5 hundo!

Man I can't believe you're making that much power from a 1.6L...that's awesome and you're crazy hahaha!!!

RIPS baby!

Once I get things sorted I'll give the cam covers a clean up and a bit of paint.

Custom sump (needs paint also)

Got some things mocked up. Due to the extra inch deck height of the RB30 bottom end a few things need to be modified, but it's nothing a grinder can't fix!

Screamer pipe.

Hey mate, it is a 35R but it was on the old motor so it's not new. It was only running 16psi though, so it'll be in for a rude shock in a a few months time!
