well haven't updated in a while!
mainly because im not able to play with it as much anymore, i have limits because whatever i do, i still have to take it to work the next day!
ive had a few running problems, first when the twins were on, standard carbys back on now, was running stupidly rich, blowing black smoke and wetting the plugs, but after playing with it, and some advice from the mechanic next door to my work, i swapped the main bowl jets to 135's from a 34/34 falcon carby, mine were 140's and re-set the float level.
seems good now! it idles, lol and pulls alright...
but in all honesty nothings changed since the last picture, i polished the lip on the rims but thats about it haha.
ill enjoy this for a bit, ive gathered a lump sum already, but thats to get the starter looked over, it grinds out on the flywheel sometimes, ill see if the solenoids dying or if its the teeth wearing. haven't pulled it out yet,
and then the next lump sum will go to one of either things, new tyres for the 15" saab rims (no tyres on them atm, hence why hotwires are on)
OR, i can put the twin dellorto's back on, and send her to a dyno!
opinions?
oh also i would like to know if anyone on here has spotted me at all,
i drive through mornington every day!

possibly the wrong solenoid. i had this problem a while back. the plunger in the solenoid was too long or too short ( cant remember which one) would miss the ring gear every so often and grind. got a correct one and no dramas. in my opinion get the carbs back on. make it run sweet before making it look good. just my 2c

well finally bought some more pre paid broadband... lol
turned out the running problems and running hot problems were combined,
blown headgasket,
did a compression test and came up with
no1 60psi no2 --psi (bouncing needle, almost no reading) no3 120psi no4 110psi
so everyone starts telling me headgasket is blown between 1 and 2,
the head is off right now and in the boot, ive got the valve gear apart, tommorow night ill be pulling the springs so i can do the stem seals while its all apart,
and im goign to be putting the twin carbs back on, if the cylinders had been leaking for a while (simple because its been running hot for a while and never ran 100%) then the engine should in theory run well again,
if not, ive got the funds prepared to get a dyno tune, so i can roll with the twin carbs anyway.
and in other news i went to a big car meet at maccas, simply organised by word of mouth as far as i know. was a sick turnout, had to be 200+ cars there, at the macdonalds in mornington.
and a gemini broke down right infront of a cop car, funniest thing ive ever seen!!!

well as alot of you may have read, i did go through a depressing stage just recently with this car, considered selling it, doing something outragous like a powertrain swap...or whatever.
eventually got around to pulling the motor apart.. turned out to be a low lifespan headgasket...
blew a huge chunk out of no1 & 2.. and no 2-3 and no 3-4 were sooty (appear to be leaking between cylinders..)
so, ive decided to get the appropriate work done to the head, and ill be putting the head back on with a fresh gasket.. giving it a tame running in, (radiator has now been done, no more overheating)
and then it will go back to road use...
and im sorry everyone for the hell lack of pictures.. but theres nothing to take! nothings changed haha....

its finally back together! after i charged the battery it fired right up (after a few turns due to empty carbies of course) i seriously forgot how much fun good pintos are! omg omg omg haha because i wasn't used to it, i was feeling all the torque throwing me back into my seat, i could feel it in my gut... was just unreal! doing 100k's, 3500ish rpm, drop into third (so 4500rpm ish?) and it still throws you back in the seat and peaks up to 160 in no time. first had a water leak (home made manifold fitting so i could run heater) but instead of fixing the leak i just put the bung back in for now. and oil leak from rocker cover.. smoke and oil EVERYWHERE all over the extractors... wasn't fun. lol ill be picking up the girlfriend in this 2moro after work

funny thing is, your car would be the cheapest there, and quite possibly the slowest. definetly the oldest. yet not only is it the coolest car, but it sounds the best, and is the one with the least parts from supercheap.

and to top that off, its actually the fastest car there. the only one that keeps up with the esky is the skyline. ive proven this to the boys numerous times the rx7 is only a 12a extend port, the white vt is, well, just poo poo. the vy tries but doesnt succeed, stock 3.8 just extractors, high flow cat and exhaust the skyline is the manual rb, LSD, with pod filter, extractors and exhaust,
