My 1600 XL mk2 4d

heres my esky, its a 1976 xl 4 door mark 2

bought it with a 1600 in it, was slow, but didn't really feel THAT sluggish...

chucked a 2 litre in it...

heres a video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63GlJWfZktQ

at the moment the car has the grill + bumpers back on, and the 2 litre has a new cylinder head with crane cam + collet's, twin springs, larger valves ( no info was given for these :S weird... ) and a full port and polish job.

extractors, standard carby (damn fuel prices)

im only on my learners now, need to get an exhaust made up, and a roadworthy done.

new pics.. its been raining a bit (hence the mud + dirt)

those wheel spacers made such a difference

engine with new head, came with chrome cam cover and belt cover free.

and my home made air filter,

NOTE: if anybody has a non standard air intake with filter for a 2 litre with standard carby tell me!

another note : the paint on the car looks sundamaged and such in the pics, but the whole car has been sanded back a bit, ready for new paint when money allows.

the body is it amazing nick, other than a few mishaps in the bumpers, there is not one serious scratch or small dent on the entire car
shame there was alot of rust, the paint was really good condition too.

so ive been researching and decided to paint my car myself...

either a two tone similair to this...

or a straight red like "PJ"'s car

i saw the paint colour and fell in love.

heres the sprayer/air gun/air brush... i will be using..

not sure what to call it.. it came with an air starter pack

it had this, a spray gun for degreaser and such, and a pressure tyre cap

the air gun has 2 adjustment things, one on the back that seems to affect how the handle opens... and the other is at the front behind the spray area...

anybody know what they are or should i test and figure out for myself?

and the engine has completely stopped spitting, even when cold. and it seems to be staying under temp now so thats great :D

just have to hook my alternator up (properly) those thing wires going across the grill are the temporary alternator wires hahah

The one that feels like it stops the handle regulates how much paint comes out. The other should change the 'fan' shape of the spray of paint.

well got more into the paint.. finished the base coat of black.. then did a second coat with silver (aluminium) stripes

    tell me what you think...

some paint peeled off from tape on the rear why is this?

does this mean im using the wrong tape or the paint didn't bond well enough, or didn't i sand it enough?
