all those dots are rain.

forgot to mention, you can see the colour difference from bonnet to guard, i put some more clear on the top of the guard, got it to match alot better.

Looks like the bonnet came up ok. Did you strip it right back?

also, double check the earthing on the front indicators before you take it in. That was the only glitch i had with them.

yeah i earthed them out, they worked, put em all on, then stopped working, had to make the earth better then reassemble again..

yeah i just lightly sanded the underneath, but i took the top down to metal and primed myself..

i got some tiger stripes in the clear, but ill deal with that later.

ive just deleted that, i got another list.. this one is bigger than the first one.

ahhhhhhHHHH!

i was on the verge of buying a roadworthy CF and just swapping all the parts i wanted over.

after some thinking and talking.. im leaning towards manning up and seeing this through to the end.

theres 29 things on this new list.. 29

i took it to a different place, showed them the previous list and what i had done, and they found alot of new things.

here it is:

windscreen to be replaced

ignition switch faulty

holes in firewall

timing belt cover missing

alternator wiring insecure

driver door seal damaged

RH R speaker insecure

no spare wheel retainer

spare wheel grommet missing

wiper blades to be replaced

no washers and bottle to be replaced

front l/h park light out

RHF headlight reflector tarnished

LHR park light out

number plate light out

no brake lights

no reverse lights

front wheel bearings to adjust

oil leak gearbox

oil leak engine

oil leak fuel pump

exhaust leak

LH front brake hose split

rear brake hose perished

LHF ball joint worn

engine oil leak

rear brakes to adjust

rear wheel cylinders leaking

-------------------------------------------

suspecting, dodgy b@stards

heres what im iffy about

ignition switch faulty - not faulty, ive just wired it so that engine still runs on ACC, haven't looked into at all.

no washers and bottle to be replaced - got home, tested, washers WORK

front l/h park light out - also tested, works

LH front flexible brake hose split/cracked - got on my knees and looked, ITS FINE not cracked at all!

i think i will talk to colin at cam automotive..

as for the rear brake cylinders leaking, when i took my axles out, i checked these, and they were fine, so unless they started leaking since then, its bullsh!t too.

mums trying to convince me to get on the market for another escort/cortina and swap my parts over to one thats already road worthy

alot of that list is complete crap mate, i'd be steering clear of that place and take it back to the first joint. why didn't you take it back to the first place? any particular reason?

driving a canaried car, with a permit, which is illegal, just 15 mins to this place, almost an hour to cam automotive..

im still debating whether to buy a second car, or just do the long yards with this one...

i also checked both rear wheel cylinders. and thats a confirmed bullsh!t case

perfectly good, may have been replaced not long ago, there not dirty. and no sign of ANY leakage.

Sterling,

Spend the weekend on it and knock of that list.

Looking at it it's nothing that is terribly hard nor costly.

Clean everything, and I mean everything. Go over it with the pressure washer and degreaser top to bottom. Black the wheels, vacuum windows etc and make it all nice and shiny. Go over all the electrics, lights wipers washers etc.. A car that looks like it should fail, usually will, and vice versa....

Just a tip, it's amazing when you're on a budget how some thinners etc and a stiff brush are able to make parts look like they have been replaced....[:I] Non critical components obviously...

Good luck with it, you're almost there.

thanks guys, ive climbed back onto the horse, so to speak,

starting knocking down the list again.

and yeah my bad for not prepping the car enough, my dirt road got the car covered in dirt, no idea why the brake lights stopped working, haven't looked into that yet. and didn't fill up the washer bottle.

ignition switch fault - Fake

holes in firewall (actually holes in heater bubble from when i did reverse bonnet) - filled, painted over.

timing belt cover missing - installed

no washers - Fake ( IT WAS OUT OF WATER?! HOW COULD THEY NOT HAVE CHECKED THIS? )

LH front rubber hose split - Fake, A1 condition.

Rear Center hose split - again, perfectly fine.

rear brake hose perished - dont know why this went up twice.

Rear Cylinders Leaking - yet again, not leaking at all. both sides.
