It sure will be fun!

The camera has a healthy dislike for flat gearchanges[:p]

I will be keen to find out how much power is to be gained from a fresh engine over a clapped out job. My engine will be out for a rebuild in the next few months, I think it will definately be alot stronger when the cylinder pressure can be contained by the rings[(#)][;^)]

What are you going to do to your engine? new pistons? What are the cossie pistons worth? I had the chance ages a go to buy second hand cossie pistons but decided probibly wouldn't be wise

Hi Guys,

I dont know exactly how many kms are on the engine but by the blow by and leak down,it has alot...150000kms-200000kms? It was a second hand engine when I got it ten years ago.

The rebuild will be basically reconditioning the bottom end with new parts including pistons, bearings, oil pump, etc. The old pistons are knackered. The head will be reconditioned with new guides, valves as necessary and some minor tidy up port work. I am undecided on cams at this point, the stock cams have been very kind in producing power so I'll wait and see how the tune goes. If it hits 300rwkw, the cams stay[;^)]

After an afternoon in the shed, its all bolted up and running The last two things I need to do are fit up the intake elbow and fit the -31 actuator to the bracket I had welded onto the compressor cover, other than that its ready to tune[:p]

The exhaust was fairly easy with the v-band fittings and the highflow wastegate housing. The turbine housing is basically RS500 spec but larger in a/r. The RS500 wastegate housing is a little agricultural in some ways, this wastegate housing is about as perfect as they can be made...its a nice bit of kit from the USA

Ive just test driven the old girl....... The boost controller is all set now for 10psi,18psi and 27psi[:p] I had to remove 17% duty to pull the high boost setting down to 27psi. The one and only high boost squirt was absolutely insane I think 35psi as Ty said is definately possible with this turbo[(#)] The retune is booked in for Tuesday...stay tuned[;^)]

It will be interesting to see how it goes in the power department...it certainly feels stronger everywhere, especially with 27psi of boost That is all without any adjustment to the old tune. The ignition advance at 27psi is very conservative as the old turbo was at its limit there,so anything is possible. The new turbo is making positive pressure at 2300rpm, 12psi by 4000rpm and 27psi by 5000rpm. That 4000-5000 range is quite a ride
