..We did, more power earlier; no real improvement for the top end. We know exactly why and it does not matter; today. The vehicle performs very well each and every time it is started and driven.. Tinkerng is something that will come later...

well done mark, looks great! It makes me more anxious to be able to turn the key on mine, but more tinkering is required. Stock cams are not at all bad in these things as your probably aware, theyed be the last thing to change, that port and manifold prep work is the way to go. The bifurifaction ports stock come no where near meeting the surface area of the trumpets. What exhaust manifold are you running on the motor?

Forgot to mention, that torque curve is very flat, thats really good, means it's breathing well all the way through with your boost level. the porting would have to matched up with a different turbo compressor, but i'm just repeating stuff you'd already know. Once again, love the car!!

I have not done any port work, but will one day to get it breathing better...I use the Escort 4x4 exhaust manifold...

...That is boost on the dyno sheet. I have much better dyno sheets (same 263kW give or take 2 kW, very consistent, but we make it at 24psi, more boost means power early)...The torque is the differentation of the power/RPM plot, ie Area under the curve. From this the torque curve cannot possibly be flat based ont the power curve, it would mean that the cylinder pressure would have to continually increase. The torqure curve peaks about 5000RPM. Quite interesting.

Sorry, I meant that the torque curve is flat once the motor is at boost, so from the 5000 to 8000 band the torque is fairly flat, and I'm assuming that boost stays at a pretty consistent 24psi through this range, if it was dead flat than the hp curve would be linear. If the breathing was becoming an issue at this power level, the torque (and by function horsepower)would drop at a pretty linear rate, similiar to the common turbo torque curve where it climbs as the motor comes on boost, peaks, then starts heading back down in a fairly straight line. I'm assuming that when you wound it up to 30psi and you said that the power increase wasn't massive, the compressor would be running of it's effic. island and breathing would start becoming a problem. When you ran it at 30 did the midrange power increase more than the peak HP figure increased, eg 40 hp gain at 5000rpm 20 hp gain at 7500rpm just to make up some numbers.

...As above stated, 30 psi meant more power mid range, no real affect for peak power...The latest tune has full boost by 4300RPM, peak power is similar...

Hey Mark, just looking through your article in Zoom, very nice! Question, your battery in the boot, obviously a sealed battery, you didn't have any engineering issues with this because it's not in a sealed container. I thought it might be the case that a sealed battery doesn't need to be in a container, but I have not gotton a confirmation on this yet?

VE commodores have sort of sealed battery with a vent to atmo. And no battery box. Should be fine then eh.

There are sealed wet lead acid batteries available with a little drain tube from the top of the battery that is usually a clear pvc tube. If the tube is vented to atmosphere you can run the battery in the cabin or boot with no box. The best type of battery to run without a box is the absorbed glass mat type(like Odyssey, Deka and Optima) which is a totally sealed design. These can go anywhere and dont require a vent
