Well its been awhile and ive changed direction slightly, to satisfy my drag racing ambitions I have bought an ex usa 1966 drag Mustang rolling chassis and I currently have the engine out of the Capri at the engine builders getting alloy heads and bigger cam ready to drop into the Mustang. The Mustang is nothing flash but is a purpose built car. I also have another Mustang engine standard bore 302 V8 at the engine builders getting built which will drop back into the Capri for now. There are a couple of reasons behind the changes. First I have come to realise that parts for these cars are becoming very hard to find, as much as I like motorsport sooner or later Im going to make a mistake (well its a possibilty) at present my Capri has had no accident damage and while not being perfect its not far off. Secondly although I dont normally listen to people Ive had enough comments of look after this car its a good one to have it finally sink in, so the little 302 will be dropped in and the Capri will become my show and shine car. Now Im also contemplating returning the running gear back to V6 specs which would make a few purists happy. We will see what the future brings in regards to originalty or excitement. As long as I have some type of motorsport fix Ill be happy.

Hi SSTHIS it looks like youve got some interesting stuff happening. As far as the capri is concerned i wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to convert it back to v6. Its probably too much fun the way it is. What you could do tho is gather up a complete original drive train and keep it in the shed for the day that you "might" need it. Its like having your cake and eating it too. Cheers, ron.[^]

A quick update now that we have some photos posted on this thread, thanks Daryl. As you all know we removed the original engine to put in my Mustang for drag racing and were going to put a mild 302 back in the Capri well I couldnt help myself so the little 302 is still sitting on the bench and weve installed another 351 this one is a later model roller block, some quick specs are eagle crank and rods srp pistons hydraulic roller cam and trickflow ali heads this engine was built to have conservativly 400 rear wheel horsepower.
We have done a couple of test passes at the drags and eased it up to a 11.15 et, with the auto self shifting in drive, I have no intentions of installing a rollcage so Im happy if we stay around that et.
Because we have the Mustang to race the Capri will be used for certain events only ie motorvation powercruise nostalgia and general crusing well thats the direction at the moment anyway. My wifes looking at this and shaking her head.
Also Ive had the Capri weighed and its 1142 Kgs without me in it, a drop of about 20Kgs by having ali heads and water pump instead of iron.
