Welding of LCA - Lower Control Arms

Anyone ever had any strength issues with welded LCAs in their small Ford? eg welded for rose joints or custom modifications, looks to be done in many applications. Asking for a club rally car so not driven or registered for road use.

Thanks,

Yeah, I welded an adjustable kit to a set of lower arms for my mk1 zetec.
I used 1in metal strap to add strength to the adjustment outer and bush, also the outer bush got a serve of strap just to be cautious safe. When welding near the bj I went slowly to not cook the bj. Obviously the rubber bushes were removed prior to the mod.

I had mine done by a certified welder who preheated the arm and part and used the appropriate welding medium for the materials. Banging off track kerbs for years no dramas yet!
Time will tell with decent power and bigger wheels and more grip.

Thanks JP, I have started the process. I'm welding a Sigma LCA ball joint end to an Escort LCA to allow me to run a set of modified struts that take a BJ122 ball joint.

Not sure if it will all come together yet but my measurements and planning says it 'should' work.
