WTB: Mk 2 Escort tail light bodies

Looking for 2 Mk 2 tail light bodies for sedan/coupe.

Lenses are not needed, just the light assemblies themselves.
I have 2 but I think they are damaged beyond repairing.
many thanks

You can buy new reproduction ones on Ebay in Oz but the quality is not great, particularly the light sockets, following the original design, flimsy bits of copper tabs for contacts, which is why I fitted later model globe holders in.  You might have better luck with some good 2nd ones.  Len

thanks Len, that is what I'm hoping for.
If not I will try some of that magic plastic glue you see around, and perhaps some knead it epoxy and a few hours in the shed.

I'll Check the spares I have got, might be ok. I got another set from a mate to fit in the other globe holders, the ones I had previously had good bodies, I just didn't like the original globe holders in them, one side worked fine but the PS one was always playing up. If you have got reasonable globe holders in yours you might be able to make up 2 good ones. I'll check and send some pics. Cheers, Len

cheers Len, The holders did look ok, and I was able to get them out of the bodies without breaking them.
One stop globe looks like it has heated up at some stage, and the wiring has charred  through.
I was planning to clean the terminals all up, and rewire them anyhow.

On the Escort you can just about dismantle something ok with a bit of care.
On the Capri, dismantling usually meant breaking.
Amazing what an extra 10 years does.

    Hi Deano,
Checked my spares, I have a good P/S one, it's a Butlers, one of the better ones, D/S one is badly cracked. Hopefully someone on the forum will have a pair, see how it goes.
    Cheers, Len

Would you consider swapping a good Tail Lamp body for a good V6 Ford/Autolite Distributor that's not seized between the 2 spindles being the main shaft and the Vacc Advance Breaker Plate ?

Just to update, one of the members here has been able to offer a lhs body that I will work out well (the escort also has one of his 'Sport' instrument clusters as well, but RHS bodies are less on the ground at the moment.

I found some light seals on EBay Uk through Motomech, if anyone needs some.

By the time this car is fully sorted, I reckon it will have bits from pretty much everyone on here.
I'll post some updates on a thread, as there's some bits of the car that look a little ok if you squint.

Regarding the swap, no sorry can't help I'm afraid.  I do however have 2 unused OEM electrodice modulators going cheap, one has only been taken out of the box for photographing.
Happy to swap it for a 4 spoke mk2 rs steering wheel.

Thanks for your input Glen................ I haven't heard from Deano that he's interested or not in swapping or buying. I'm sure if he still needs it he'll contact me himself..............This site BTW doesnt cater for Porsche or VW...........asking for a swap could not be more likely than on THIS site here that caters for EnFo smallford............
viz Cortina-Escort-Capri, since these 3 models we discuss here are all related
