Twin cam pedal box?

Hi, I am changing the brakes on my Mk1 Escort, I have Capri struts and rear brakes. Also would like to get rid of the large bracket and master cylinder out of the engine bay. I believe the twin cams had the cylinder under the dash, can a standard pedal box be changed, also has anyone and diagrams or photos of what I need to find or make?  Thanks Peter.

I used to have a Twink pedalbox but was Modded to a bias setup then it was again Modded to take hyd clutch. You can modify your original pedalbox to Twink by some cutting and plating, they only have one m / cyl to feed both front n back brakes ,if someone on here owns a twincam pedalbox they might be able to put pics up for you.

There was 2 on ebay but the complete one I had a bid on ended early. I would like to keep the cable clutch but have a standard twin cam master cylinder. If I could get some details on how to modify a standard pedal box I would go that way.

If you search for Ford Rally Manual on Google there's a pdf to download of the escort prep bible (i payed $25 for my book back in the early 90s), page 84 shows how to build bias box but the box measurements are the same for single cyl setup. This should help you get started.
I sold mine on fleagay for $300 a few yrs ago

Found the download, you need the twin cam pedal box to start with. If I had a diagram and photos of a original I could build one.

have asked this previously but keen for any more input i can get. for all those who have removed the standard mk2 brake tower assembly and gone to a pedal box assembly, how did you go with getting engineering certificate ie roadworthy? in the middle of a rebuild. want to change the standard setup and seem to be bashing my head against the 'legal' options i have...

From what I last heard from my engineer is its fine to go a bias box assembly. .. but it has to be locked so you can't adjust it..ie split pins thru the spindle or a nut to lock it.
Vac booster isn't a problem if removed.. This was my engineer in Adel

cheers for that marty. seem to be told so many different things its hard to work out what you can/cant do.
the engineer i have been talking to seemed ok with the use of a pedal box assembly but wanted to see documentation
from the manufacturer that it was designated for road use and not just for racing purposes.
in regards to the brake system being boosted he said it would be subject to a simplified ADR brake test. as such he said he would be surprised if it passed the test without a booster but that one is up to me whether to try or not...

    Hi Lee,

I had a bias box with no booster fitted to my Mk2 Escort when it had to go for a full roadworthy here in South Aust.
I passed the brake test but after inspection they wanted to fail it due to s/s braided feed lines from pots to m/cyls not being ADR approved - luckily I'd done my research to get car up to spec and any brake line not under pressure was not required to have ADR approval as mandatory.
Also yes no remote adjuster allowed.

I recommend tuning you brake setup on the brake dynos that some auto shops have. Helps to get bias correct before the test for rego.

If you google VSB14 it gives you a guide as to what mods need certification and what don't

This particular does not help a each state is different, its up to the engineer to confirm if they will sign it off, as some may use the ICV ruling and pass it bit charge you alot for a design they may patent.

Depend which year vehicle you have, escort mexico had reverse pedal box, and some perhaps imported in the country, can be used as a basis for, unless transport know it's not a genuine Mexico, would it matter.

In QLD unboosted systems are not allowed with turbo engines, however I've managed to argue the Mexico rule above but have to fit a genuine one, which a VH40 booster would be cheaper.

Which way you go also depends on your insurer
