VTO Classic 8 Wheels

I thought I'd show all you Classic Ford fans the wheels I bought for my project, which are made by a company called VTO Performance based in Arizona, USA.  The owner of the company used to distribute Australian "Superlite" wheels, but now offer a similar style (amongst others) called the "Classic 8", which is made in China (like everything else in the world it seems). Although there are lots of manufacturers of this style, including Minilite, Compomotive, and others, I wanted spokes with pointed outside edges.  That limited me to Superlites and Panasports (big $$$), at least until I saw these and decided I liked what I saw.

I'm very impressed with both the quality of the finish and the weight savings over the Superlite.  The edge is nicely polished, and the paint very smooth.  What I really like is that there is no embellishment on the outside other than a discrete VTO logo directly opposite the valve.  The size, offset, load rating, approval etc. are all on the inside of the wheel instead.  The photos aren't the best, but they show a very clean looking wheel, which is exactly what I was after.

I went for the 15x7 ET12, which weigh in at 7.6kgs, exactly as stated on VTO's old website (they've updated it since I purchased my wheels, and now omit this useful info for some reason).  This is 1.2kgs lighter than the equivalent Superlite, and although still not quite in Panasport territory, the price is far from it!  The wheels have steel tapered seat inserts, and come with the usual caps, nuts, valves etc. as shown.  The only problem is that I'm still tearing my car down so am no where yet ready to fit them!

VTO's website has information on others sizes and pricing if you are interested.

    Hi Flighter,

Interesting to see......I'm not after a set but curious....

Do they offer much of a saving by the time they are landed here or is there a local distributor? Going by the list price they're not much cheaper than Superlites. Also do they meet ADRs to be legal for road use?

No local distributor, although I believe VTO are looking for one downunder.  Shipping is therefore necessary, which currently makes them more expensive than Superlites.  They are marked as having VIA approval, meaning they've been tested to JWL standard, which I gather is acceptable for road use in Au too seeing how many Japanese cars sold here have wheels similarly marked.  I figure that shiny new alloys are safer than my 30-something year old originals, and fortunately "She who must be obeyed" agreed, so I'm happy.
