You'll be lucky to get a better deal than that..... Remember that is for a new one...  There are bugger all second hand ones about, and they are generally around the same price (centre complete though), but unknown condition....

In about 15 years of looking I have only ever seen less than half a dozen (reasonably priced ie sub $900) LSD's come up secondhand...

Just my 2.2c worth including GST....

You could land to your door the same diff only with better ramp angles for $850

    OR

Since the Tran-x Salisbury is a more than capable centre land one of them less than $750

I have second hand Salisbury's come through from time to time and sell them for $500 cleaned up and shimed back to correct pre-load with new bearing pressed on.

They seem like good prices (go you aussie dollar).

What's the difference between the 2 options exactly?

What's the difference between the 2 options exactly?

Both made by Tran-x however the more expensive of the two has larger side bearings and you can order 6 different ramp angles. The Salisbury version is named as such as it was originally made by Salisbury and is still made for two reasons, firstly in the UK and Europe if you run under FIA rules you must use it and secondly because it is a good unit. It is available with 2 sets of ramp angle.

The larger bearings are just a sales gimmick, older Salisbury's use to fail at the end plate as they were machined cast iron however they have been available in billet steel for at least 15years. Damage to the casings will result if the axles let go at the spline but all the parts are available and both types will sustain equal damage.

As for ramp angles the Salibury has the only 2 sets worth using 45/45 and 30/60. Of the 6 available for the more expensive diff 3 only work on drive, a figure of 90 on over run means nothing happens, so once the torque (preload) is overcome the unweighted wheel is free to lock up.

    Either or.

You'll buy 45/45 off the shelf and nearly all second hand units will be 45/45.
