Ooooh nasty!!
Glad I never did that back in the day as I never would have had it on the road. Goes to show if you don't go looking for a problem you may never find it...or have even have an inkling it exists. Very hard to believe it is even the same car.
Here's a couple of old pics I found:

I think you should weigh up the project before going any further.
Rate the project out of a score of 5 on the following:
1/. Skills - What percentage of the work can I do myself? (1=little, 5=everything)  X/5
2/. Money - What can I afford to pay other people to do? (1=little, 5=everything) X/5
3/. Time - How much time can I afford to spend on the project? (1=1hr/wk, 5=5hrs/wk min) X/5
4/. Target - when do I want to finish the project? (1=1year, 5=5years) X/5
5/. Commitment - How committed am I to see the project through to completion? (1=not very, 5=finish at all cost) X/5
Minimum score is 5, maximum score is 50.
The higher the score, the more likely you will see the project through to completion.
If you score less than 25 then seriously think about what you trying  to achieve as you may only achieve wasting time (not only your time too) and money. You may be better off buying someone elses completed project.
