Back a few years ago when i first moved into my house, I bought most of my furniture from Vinnies. Cost me $20 for a full lounge suite. Another $20 for the table. I ended up giving the lounge suite away as a mate was moving and he gave me his lounge suite.

I'm sure there'd be something like that near you. Best day to go is on a Monday in the morning if you can.

If there's a University near you and you can wait til end of year, have a look there. They're great for finding free furniture as departments spend their yearly budgets and get rid of perfectly good stuff.

Vinnies is a must for cheap furniture.

    I got a Lounge/sofa for $50 in great nick.

Fridge off ebay $160 only acouple of dents that get hidden by bills anyway.

There are also people that sell seccond hand Washing machines that are refurbished that are worth looking at.
One more handy hint is check the tip. As silly as it sound some smaller tips have a setup like vinnies that people donate things to them before they dump them. Here in Bathurts there is one, too far i know but I got a stove & oven for $60 bucks, looks & works great. They are all checked before sale & money goes to charity.
