YELLOWFLASH JUST ABOUT COMPLETE

Here are some photos of my pride and joy. My contribution to saving these remarkable cars.

RS2000 (1980) with matching numbers. Standard except for: steering wheel, rocker cover, electronic ignition, RS2000 (UK) factory mags, central locking and RS2000 (UK) exhaust manifold.

Many thanks to those who have contributed to this project over the last 12 months, especially Esky-Ad (Adrian) who provided good advice and special parts early on in the rebuild.

Sorry about the quality of picture. If anybody is interested I have history photos of various rust locations to provide evidence of those nasty spots generic to these cars.

Thanks. Ken

Nice car yellowflash, did you paint it yourself? I noticed you have a burtons alloy rocker cover....did it fit nicely and doesn't leak?

Steve, I can't imagine why you commented on those wheels. [:x)]

All in all a great package. ps, wouldn't mind seeing the rust spots close up.....are they grizzly photos? Open sores?

    Regards,
    Craig.

G'Day Adrian. Thanks for the comments. I have an RS Steering Wheel in OK condition but good ones appear to be very difficult to get (unless you are prepared to pay heaps and heaps when they do come on the market). I would be very interested if you have one in good nick... Thanks. Ken

P.S. Your van coming along OK?

    Hello Craig.

Had the paint job done here in Cairns. 2 Pack finish in the original Ford Colour. I would probably give it an 7/10 for quality with a few very minor blemishes that I could point out to you. Good enough in the shorter term though. One day in years to come (once the harsh, high humidity Cairns weather has done its job) I will paint it myself.

I can certainly send you some horror pictures of the rust. Both floor pans rusted out, heater dome required full replacement, both rear pillers significantly rusted out, rear lower quarter panels in boot, passenger side door and door hinge pillars well and truly @#$%&%. I purchased this car over the internet and relied on the seller to tell me the facts about the car with respect to rust. I was told virtually no rust but once I scraped away the paint; the rest was history... Do you have ADSL? each picture is 1-2 MEG.

The Burtons Rocker Cover fits very well and providing you use enough gasket sealer, it no longer leaks. I reckon it looks quite smart though. I did see another one on eBay a while ago which had RS2000 in lieu of Burtons on the top of the cover. Would have liked that one.

    Cheers. Ken

van is getting there slowly just about to put in the new motor (back to a stoker)

Yep, got the technology to handle the pics here.

I am thinking of getting one from Burtons, just living in a fantasy that one will turn up in Australia so i dont have to pay $100 freight.

    Regards,
    Craig.

Door handle gaskets were excellent. Ended up getting a new set of handles which was a bonus. Thanks. Ken
