building a tidy 1980 4dr

hi all,

i just recently purchased a 4dr 1980 escort in running order. it is already in undercoat grey but needs more work. i have previously owned 2 other Escorts when i was just out of high school, a '68 panel van and a 4dr mk 2. had to get rid of them because of money situation.

This car is not going to look a million dollars or be the fastest in Australia but i would like to make it respectable and nothing to laugh at.

At the moment it is lowered 4 dr with square head lights, has hot wire mags, has had rust work done but needs some more. i will post some pics as soon as i can

was looking at putting a 2.3L pinto motor in it but as im a uni student and only work casual hours i would have had to save for a year to buy just the motor.

i would like to gain some info about certain things and the best place i could think of was here.

so if anyone could help with the following questions:

1: i am looking to find a 2 L motor for it but having trouble finding dealers or people with ex race engines that need a freshen up, can anyone point me in the right direction?

2: if anyone could give me any hints and tips on the rebuild it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks all
- Brad
