it's been a year coming back through customs: "anything to declare? "no just Escort bits" and start pulling out quick racks, lsd, a short shifter, and pair of side drafts complete with intake from your carry on... I look forward to seeing your shopping spree.

Ill have to sit everything out and take photos for you all, garage is a mess at the moment though so need to do a bunch of organizing first. Today is a big day, the car has officially had its first coat of primer! Still a bunch of work to do but exciting none the less! Also the guards have been rolled so I can run 205s with ease on the wheels I have once the 185s are worn out (or run a small spacer), should look the ducks nuts! My search for a new ignition switch has come to an end too! Managed to fine a NOS one, super stoked and it's coming in the mail. I was really worried about the repair on the original one, last thing I wanted was a intermittent electrical gremlin or worse. Still a lot of parts to organize over the next 12 months but that was one of the harder ones to find, been looking for almost a year!

Getting a full cover of primer/sealer is a milestone. Did they do anything with the roof rear corners, tho it'll be hard to pick once painted. Ign switch is a great find as well

Yep they adjusted them to match another mk2 they had in there, I would have never noticed unless you said something, great eye for detail!

Great progress, she'll be in colour before you know it, then the fun bit. Not a bad effort in tracking down a new ignition either!

A new ignition switch, wow. I remember 40 years ago they were almost impossible to get and didn't every Escort/Capri etc you looked at, have the terminals on the back a mangled mess of soldered piggybacks for all sorts of accessories.

Yep, nearly every dodgy dealership hacked into the main yellow accessory wire to fit alarms, intermittent wipers, radio upgrades etc. Mine had wiper wiring and alarm both off the yellow wire on separate scotch locks and the earth was hacked into too, it was a mess. Looks all pretty now though! Anyone headed to Small Ford Sunday?

New stuff alert!! Managed to pick up two interior pieces from the same gentleman this week. Both pieces are in substantially better condition than my originals. The dash pad is a completely original part, no cracks, only some slight surface gunk that needs cleaned off, you can see a few white marks on it from storage, I rubbed at it with just my finger and it started to come off just fine. It will look absolutely awesome when its cleaned up! Any tips on keeping it supple would be appreciated, the old gent I bought it off seems to think rubbing vaseline onto the surface on a warm day and allowing it to absorb is the way to go but curious to hear what you all think! The second piece is a well presenting center console, with an original clock! It also has the carrier still in place for the factory radio which I was super surprised by. Again any tips on giving this trim a bit of revitalization would be massively appreciated, I'm super happy with both these parts as they and want to keep them that way!

Nice score on the parts, that dash top is a minter. Keeping it as new, I would not know that trick except a dash mat !!

What a score!
I’ve found autoglyn bumper trim gel is great for blacks etc. I put it routinely on the spoiler and anything that likes it. It does attract a bit of dust if used on the exterior but once it’s worked in it keeps everything nice and sleek

Honestly the thought crossed my mind! I already have one cause the old dash was a mess.. It would be a shame to cover such a nice piece up! I've been burnt by products in the past actually causing more damage to what you're trying to protect, I might try this on the OLD crash pad to see if it takes it well.

I’m really picky with my products and love this. Give it a crack on your old one and see. A little bit goes a long way with that stuff.
Agree with Marty tho a dash Mat is great but if it’s just going be a weekend warrior car I think you’ll be ok.
