Forum Newbie - Proud owner of a GT V6 Capri

Hi All, Just popping in to say hello to you all, I am new to the Forum and an owner of a 1970 Mk1 GT Capri.

I have owned the car for about 6 months now and would be interested to know if anyone knows any of its history, see info on the verification letter from Ford for further information.
Also, I'm on the lookout for a set of original driving lights and brackets, please let me know if you have any leads.

Reading all the old threads has been a fantastic source of information and I thank you all for your knowledge and valuable intel.

Col

    Congratulations on your purchase.
Your most likely to find the past owner is known by someone threw this forum.
Won’t be long before they reply.
Only thing I’m able to help you with is,
I’m sure it’s a delete option car there’s at least 6 threw this forum.
Are you thinking of changing it back to yellow?

Thanks Reeni, I have an original set of wheels in the shed :-)
I'm not what you would call a purist and the car is certainly not concourse condition but she's a very nice street car and a pleasure to drive.
I will add some more photos to the OP.

Well it’s a shame you wouldn’t take it back to its original state.correct colour scheme. Most likely the only delete option car in Yukon yellow..
I’m sure you would find many people within the forum able to sell you reasonably priced, original parts to replace any upgrades already made by previous owner.

Thanks Bee Vee, love the Wild Plum mate. I'm in Ballarat, Victoria.

Apologies these photo's are not the best, I will endeavour to take some more when the weather is a bit more suitable to taking her out of the shed for a run :-)

Thanks Reeni, Like I said earlier, I'm not a purist and have no plans to restore it to Factory color etc.
I consider the restoration done on it already to be very good, its a beautiful Blue Pearl color, the interior is immaculate and its an absolute hoot to drive.
    Fun Times!!

    Hi Col,

    welcome.
The Rebels look great with the blackout trim, very old school tough looking Capri.
I'm in Geelong, if you make it down this way on a cruise anytime, give me a yell.

    cheers

Thanks Deano, I reckon they look pretty good too.
I've got the original GT wheels in the shed but reckon the Rebels contribute to the overall look.
She certainly gets a lot of attention when I take her for a spin.

Thanks for the invite to catch up mate, hopefully the weather will improve soon enough for some Sunday cruises, watch out Great Ocean Road, I'm coming for ya :-)

Interesting interior originally fitted to your cars was W2, which is White with cloth trim.  The cloth would have been Hawaiian Tropic (spectrum) I have never seen that version in white vinyl (only in the green vinyl).  From memory your car was advertised in NSW about 2 years ago or so, made its way to Victoria then on to you.

Capri The car I always promised myself

I'm sure its gone thru a few changes over the years, I'm just glad to have one that is in great nick and goes well.
She certainly is a crowd pleaser, everytime I take her out people stop for a chat and want to take photos.
Do you remember where you seen it advertised? Your timeline of about 2 years ago is spot on. I wonder how much they were asking for it then...

Hi All, after an incident at a local carpark, I'm now in the market for a good quality rear bumper bar for my MK1 GT Capri :-(
If anyone has any leads it would be greatly appreaciated, Col

    no!
Hopefully it was just the bumper and no paint.
Ive got one if you get stuck.
Was off my car until a yera or so ago when I bought repro's, so 40+ years of original patina, but otherwise straight and pretty reasonable.
    PM if you like.

Thanks Deano, it was just the bumper thankfully. Where did you get the repros from mate?
