Jewel green 71 GT

Finally the shell has been returned home. Over the past 5 months it has undergone a full bare metal respray.
I wish to share some pictures of the specialised work they do, it’s awesome,I’m extremely happy.

    Little has been done
We first attempted the head lining
Thought we had done great until came time to glue around map light.
Every thing well glued we found that to stretch the lining back was impossible with out releasing glued areas from the door jam area. Did so in damaging the fabric a little.
Then tried holding it into position with light fitting till glue dries .
    Cracked the light in two.
Laughing about it now at the time very upset. Linning has been removed and now going with white to keep original looking.
Wasn’t able to send a picture of what has Been done.
Rear of the car has been fitted with its original re chromed bumper bar all it’s lights key lock trims etc
Only thing not done is it’s Ford Capri and gt badge
I’ll try send a picture later in the day

Still no luck in being able to send pictures of further work we have done.
Crossmember brake booster and front bumper bar.
Dad came across some guy today.
Said there was a small Ford car show next month in Canberra.
Not sure if Mum and I are able to take it out as an finished project.
She will do her best find out if we’re allowed to take it.

    Looks good Reeni.
Keep it hidden away until complete, then you can stun everybody when its done.
Enjoy the fun part of putting it back together.

Not so fun at the moment I’ve spent 4 hours trying to clean sponge and glue from inside the heater box. I’ll be replacing felt sponge. Dad will finish off the silicon paint have it back together next week.
    Front bumper bar is on,
Look to buy a right hand side head light housing and the rubber gasket for the fuel tank can’t seem to find them new or any second hand.

Changed our minds about using a white head lining so ordered another in black. Looks good. Also put underlay and carpet, steering column, brake and clutch peddles, fuel tank, reconditioned steering rack and sway bar, Heater.
Hoping dad will have time this weekend complete suspension and brakes. He doesn’t think we are capable I guess.
Anyone needing the white head lining can have it for free.

The car is back at home
After having the engine and gearbox rebuilt. Still long way away from starting it up. An exhaust battery radiator hoses etc. I’ve taken on the easy work like fitting the radiator this weekend. And hopefully have the doors assembled over the next month.
It’s booked in mid year to finalise the mechanical wiring, twin tail shaft, and complete break system.
    Exceed the budget.
    Still far from finishing soon
