was all fine in Gtown, thanks guys. My lifey is self inflating anyhow when it gets wet (great if you fall overboard concussed, or drunk), so I was safe wearing it around the streets amid downpours. Clueless is a good decription MArk about my Speeduino and general EFI knowledge, trying to increase it , but not having the general mechanicked knowledge you and Marty have garnered, puts me on a learning curve. I think the bike ITB/Speeduino projet is likley still for Marty as well? ( I got the dual analogue sensor in for it,yet to be added)but in general it stalled when my PC wont let me keep drawing the custom inlets up. We want to see the first production run of guards and bootlids soon Marty. Then whats next, repro's of the rubber bootlid spoilers, or rally roof vents like I bought? Dash crash pads for vans?

I havent used one directly Marty, but have wanted to, and only done some 3D print stuff as you know. I'd be happy to buy one of those, especially with having an android phone, not Apple, which is the same as you I think? Otherwise youd need the Ferret Pro version You'll be set with the 3D printer, nice side gig lining up for you. Let me know if you need a cracked 4 door dash pad to scan

Righteo , some news on the project front but more on that later.. Firstly on with the mk1, I drilled holes for the bolts and thought, it's to hot to weld so I used nutserts instead, the boot is not a load bearing panel and it weighs about 2.5kg in fglass, I did make washers to spread the load tho to help them not be pulled thru A quick sanding to remove the lumps in the gelcoat This is the device and plenty of supply for any size between M4 to M10 in both Ally and steel And late this rvo I decided to join both skins together, the outer is still in the mold to hold shape While the weights and clamps ( more than Dave's Garage uses lol ) during the drying time ! Ok, a friend and I have bought a time warp 1 owner mk2 rally pack which has done a low 115k KMs but it's needed to be restored with in a year so the original owner can have her pic taken as she did when she bought it back in 77 so the family can remember those times and know the car is still around and being looked after. This will take some time away from my mk1 but not completely because we know there's always times when it comes to a halt till parts , weather or family duties get in the way..

Looks great Marty almost Monza Red by default. Amazing how all these cars were left to the elements are now bringing big dollars and al lot of effort/money to restore. Just imagine if they had all been well cared for from new. I wonder what the market for them would look like? Parallel universe stuff

Your right Mark, we've been sourcing a few things like orig spot lights and a front guard for the Rally pack. A while back you could buy a running mk2 for the price of a front guard these days ! We started stripping the interior out on Ausday, noticed some rust about the front floors and heater area, once it's emptied out we'll install a gantry to roll it around on given to me by the late great Paul Dunstan. This is some rust I've found so far Genuine ford radio ! Most of the interior stripped out and dry stored Back onto the mk1, all I done lately is have a play with the rear speaker arrangement, the plan is to install them on a frame once I have worked out a spot. I have decided to mount them as far forward and high up in the rear door cavity up the front. The thickness of the speaker dictates where it can go without magneting to the outer body panel. Don't panic this trim is fibreglass so if I stuff up I can make a new one. Speaker is 6x9 3 way coaxial but only a cheapie , my ears can't tell between cheap and high end speakers no more , only the wallet can ! As usual I well be making a mold once done so others can do this as well instead of butchering the panel. Will see how far I get tomorrow on this conversation

Marty, I did not know Paul was 'late'. I assume we are talking the same guy, modified pedal box and electric steering column? If so I now know why I never heard back from him. And yes, besides your ears not telling, whats the point of drowning out that sweet carb noise!

Yeah mate , the same fella, pedalbox and steering guru, he unfortunately past away nearly 2yrs ago, I'm not sure what from, the good news is the RS he was building is now in the road and driven by his son Josh... RIP Paul
Correct on the tunes of the carbs/itbs over K-pop lol... My misso got control of the tv remote last nite and I had to endure 30mins of MAFS, I was getting so furious .. Told the misso never again or she's sacked for good. Shows like that need to banned, my brain cell count really suffered a blow and am still recovering. Females and tv remotes do not mix, she kept saying I could learn from the show ???? ... Nope !!!

Did a small spend the other week to buy a plastic welder , mainly for the rally pack grill as it's been broken but all parts are still present even after 30yrs storage! This is the little device, paid only $21 , in not sure about the instructions tho !! Ok, .. And now for something completely different (where have I heard that phrase before?) . Got thinking to have a go at installing a electric window set on the mk1... Well it's got sunroof, heater seats with full electrics, fold down rear seats etc. This window winder is from a Suzuki Swift I got for $30 , I'm going to see how I can install this to an Escort door.. Before you say to get a universal kit, I have one and they do not work as intended plus the motor and gantry hangs on the outside of the door frame, a big no no for escort due to limited space etc. Moving to the rear door card where I'm fitting 6x9 speakers , I traced the shape onto a sheet of 4mm board, similar to the stuff at the back of cupboards. With the pattern cut out on the bandsaw, I got to mark up the armrest and then cut it out with a jigsaw. I also cut the fibreglass armrest out and trimmed it down to be glued on from the back This is the trimmed the fibreglass panel I'll be doing a bit more on this tomorrow

Carrying on with the rear cards, I've integrated the original elbow rest by using filler as a bonding glue Because I'm lazy and this is just a plug for a mold I'm using the oval speaker surrounds as a raiser to get the speaker more away from the outer skin , lazy in the way the screws were to long so I spaced them back with more card squares to take up the threads length.. Next was to add a ramp around the cover to blend in the shape nicely, using more card and a hot melt glue gun to stick the many ramps on, this is to reduce the filler usage as it doesn't need to be solid.. I got enthused and applied a slap of filler to show how it'll look. A black texta line is good too help keep the ramp even as well

A bit more filler n sanding before I give it a coat of rattle can black etch , a quick check for any imperfections, the black will highlight where any minor work will be needed Just need to find something flat thin and strong to fill the speaker hole, might try some stainless sheet which is 0.6mm should do the trick..

Those rear cards are coming up a treat, have you got plans on how you'll control the travel on the windows or do those electric motors have a top and bottom learn adjustment?
