Thanks Shaun,
the guard was in a right state but I got it looking pretty good now, I gave it a layer of primer this rvo , all that needs doing is those little divots from air in the filler to fill..

I don't want to let on the exact colour just yet, but I have a couple of colours up my sleeve and they aren't lairy , I want it to be noticed but not ' in your face' , also it'll be old skool looking. I've only told a couple of friends, the misso and Deano the colour I'm planning on painting it.
If you can wait about 6 month all will be revealed

Hey MarkA , you are correct it will (and the other side) are being fixed for molds . As it is this left hand guard was very crusty as you've seen tho it's still a half decent guard for a rally car etc. Once I've done the mold they will be for sale so if anyone wants them, send a PM ..

Apart from some house duties today I managed to get the boot skin mold ready and slapped a layer of gelcoat , I'll flop a couple of glass mat layers on in the morning

i'm glad you are offering moulded parts from these Marty, that will be very valuable to many people going forward.

I've just spent yonks fine tuning 1 of the guards fitted with the bubble arch,  and getting it onto the car.
Having a guard come complete with choice of arch is gold, and I can see why people spend $$ to get the repro panels with bubbles included, if you can afford it.

That was alot of progress achieved over Xmas.
And it's true, I was privvy to the colour a while ago.
And if you need a cryptic hint, think a famous pair of hot pants owned by a singing budgy might give you a clue.

Yep your right on with the guards. Anyone who has played with flaring existing or add ons would vouch for having the whole guard ready as a 'bolt on'.

Hey Deano, showing your age with the musical reference. I reckon gold is the colour then

That's a hard cryptic even for me... And I know the colour !!!
Mark are you referring to Kylie Minogs shorts ? Lol

I did put a couple of layers on the boot lid mold so that parts done, it'll still need bonding to the inner frame to it but the mounting threads and nuts need glassing in first , I could use those rivnutserts things which I might try..

Spent a few hrs yesterday on the Focus mk1 3dr, when I gave it a full birthday last year replacing almost every part, I installed a pr of stage 2 cams and wasn't very happy with the lack of performance so I added a 65mm throttle body, this is when the ecu started getting freaked out and threw a code saying lack of fuel running lean.
I was going to buy a standalone ecu from USA but since my job is in limbo I'm not forking $750 plus a dyno session so to simplify things I removed the cams and installed the stock jobs again but the 65mm tb stays for fun and economy. Luckily I didn't need to remove the front mount or cover, just the front belt cover, leads and rocker cover, nice easy job but the humidity was stupid at 88%
The cams are nearly new and have been put away for a rainy day..

How programmable is the factory ecu Marty? Take it not
With the Cosworths there are so many varying opinions on this topic, very frustrating.
I have gone totally aftermarket and with both builds because you have any number of inputs for various sensors etc.
And any number of other reasons.

Don't worry Guys its been humid as anything here around Jervis Bay. What happened to our hot, dry summer? and were meant to trust their climate science

yep last night down ere was a hard one to get any sleep.

Could not imagine how the guys further north handle this all the time.

What ECU's  have you used Mark?
Marty is swatting up on Speeduino as we speak, and will be a guru by the time the coupe is ready.

Mark, the factory ecu has it's limits on how far it can be dialled like using a SCT flash tuner which I bought for my last Focus mk1 but since the SCT is from USA I have doubts everything will hook up as intended. Maybe I should just try it ehh !
The ECU standalone I was planning to get is a speeduino but is all tucked into a gutted Focus mk1 ecu box, the seller said it should work (!) But the immobiliser won't work anymore , not that I care about that..

Deano, has your town sunk yet? I seen the cloud band with gallons of water crossing your way and thought you'd might want to inflate your floaties just in case !!

Yep Deano hope Vic is not too bad. My boat is still in Bendigo, might come in useful
Interesting to see if the Southern 80 can be run in a few weeks?

Whats that with your work Marty. I thought mechanics (like most trades) were in short supply?

Deano, Got an E84 Motec in the RS. Was handy recently as I lost power at anything much above idle. Got the UTC cable for the ecu (not cheap like anything motec) and downloaded the data logging, sent it to my tuner and viola had no fuel pressure (11 psi).
Funny though cause that's the first thing I checked. Took off the fuel return line and it was like Niagara falls. But all flow, no pressure. So methinks my 044 pump, which had 98 sitting in it for 3+ years shat itself. Lesson; 98 is **** for storage, (so I always put some Fuel Doctor or the like in it). Lucky I don't use 85

After our discussion on the Speeduino I got onto a couple of the guys on FB and they pretty much said (more politely than this) if your clueless (that's me) then get a plug and play setup. This is what I have done and it arrived just before christmas. Its the Link Monsoon from Brands Hatch Performance, it comes base mapped for the YB and comes with custom loom for your order. I got the knock sensor which is not on the earlier YB's (and not sure if on many of the later cosworth escorts), the Lambda kit and the pressure sensor (which I am not sure on placement yet).

Just getting going on wiring the car now, once I figure out how to get my OBP floor pedal box to pull rather than push. I can feel some more fabrication coming on

Hi Mark, I haven't mechanicked since the late 90s . I've done other positions over the years and this one is closing down.

The bootlid should be out of the mold soon once the inner frame has regained its shape to be attached without any opposing stresses going on. I will be taking pics of the process as usual..
