Mk1 Escort Ex Gravel Rally Car soon to be Tarmac Spec after complete rebuild and upgrade .

    The Car was last Registered in 98 when i stopped rallying after some nasty accidents [B)] but now its time to start again and have some fun . Heres the Car as of 7pm tonight .

    and are they any good ? i have never broken this one but if i upgrade to a zetec motor i wanna be sure it will survive ?

    It's a standard Mk1 Escort diff, and for piece of mind and ease of changing centres, I would at least be swapping it for an English type found in Mk2 Escorts.

    You may want to check the new tarmac rally regs, I don't think you can run a Zetec in an Escort.

    you can't, well not in the bigger events like targa tas, classic Adelaide, mt buller, tally tas etc. club events will be different though...

    the majority of the interior is out now , just gotta drop out the motor and gearbox and remove the rear fire wall then i can get sandblasting [:p]

    Hey nice project. Have fun with that. What a shocker under the cage mount.. scary.

    Don't take my word for it, but I would have thought a complete Mk2 diff would go straight in.

    Yeah i raced in the ballarat car club about 10 to 12 years ago now did the begonia rally , Djerriwarrh a couple times ,morwell , a few near bendigo its been awhile . [V]

    Hi Guys its been awhile but heres an update of where the Mk1 is at now .

    Remove Paint and Bog and Find lots of dents cover with light coat of Primer to stop surface rust .

    dont use that as a donor.... build it up as a support, trailer vehicle... matching colours even....

    nothing would beat a mk1 rally car with a mk2 van support vehicle.
