thats very interesting to learn Shaun.
For what you do, next to nurses, you are saints.
I'd buy you as many beers as needed if we ever meet.

The firrieys/SES crew did struggle to get the door unjammed, using the portapower.
Now that you mentioned it, I am suprised that the car did not automatically dial, we had paired phones, and obviously the airbags triggered, which is what I thought prompted the emergency call.
We spoke to the dispatched via the cars stereo.
I ended up fitting the steering wheel airbag cover, prior to the doors being cut off, as my wife was still trapped.
In the end, the hospital didnt realise I was a passenger in the car'until the next morning, as I helped so much post accident.Adrenaline is pretty amazing.

We toyed briefly with getting a different car as a replacement, so as not to be a reminder.
But it saved our lives, and you can walk past that.

stay safe.

has anyone had wheels banded before?

I'm debating whether to have 13x6 OEM rostyles re rimmed to 15"x7 or 8".
I have a set not being used, and thought it might be an alternative to the Minilights.

Any issue with such a relatively larger/wider rim being done with the steel, compared to what a similar size alloy would weigh?
Any recommendations who could do this?
Seems like its common practice in the UK.

cheers

I don't think you can go any bigger than 1" in height so 14" is it as the center gets loose where it needs to be a tight push fit. Er, maybe a set of old sunrasyias could be used as a mule for testing ..

Marty I thought I saw somewhere that they use new ribbed or stepped wheel 'tubes', so its 13 where the centre is rewelded, but steps out to 15'

I thought it might be a good reference to the old school aspect.
Might also be a waste of good Rostyles as well.
Will keep hunting around...

thanks Marty and Shaun, that puts the Rostyle idea to bed.

I'll go back to ordering Compomotives instead.
I'm just waiting to measuring up the diffs, and overall width under the arches, to be able to give them the offset needed for 15x7 or 8's.

geeze Marty, I thought you were a man of taste.
each to their own, but the only wheel I can think of that would look worse, would be 12 slotters on an escort or capri. Just doesn't  sit right with me.Probably too old for street cred now.

These were an option, Watanbe wheels, until I found some prices (approx $600 ea!)
Makes the Compomotive look reasonable.
Should get some time back on the van over easter.

Doh !
Can't believe how costly compomotive have got to... I bought a set of compomotive MO 15x7 and 15x8 in white way back in 1998 for only £67.50 ea ($200) with the crap exchange rate then... Still in the boxes to this day!
I can't remember freight as they came in a crate with heaps of escort RS stuff like grills, bumpers, dashes , dashtops , single leaf springs etc etc
I suppose my taste is a little out there but hey, can't always be a follower lol .

you should put them on the blue Mk1 van if you still have it.

On the other hand, Marty if you think they might still be in boxes in another 23 years and you prefer a bit more space in the shed, send me PM, id be happy to help out by taking them off your hands

Hi Gentlemen,
Just putting it out there for your thoughts.
I am getting close to deciding on a color, which i'm leaning towards a Pine/Lime variation, with silver painted bubble stripe kit.
Choosing a color will mean I can see what color rims may work, and get them done finally.

Has anyone seen a paint on something they like?
Preferably moving away from the typical Kawasaki snot green, and more like the splice color.
Maybe even this Mustang in 'Grabber lime' is about as green as i'd want to go.
F Frosted lime
P Pine and lime
X Lemon Lime
Citrine Yellow?
Open to suggestions!
with thanks
