for 10 points, and a share of the lead, does anyone know what these brackets are and where they might go? They did have a fair amount of surface rust, so i'm guessing maybe somewhere under the van?

10 points to me, yay yeet what . They brackets go at the back inner side which cover a sort of protector for the lights in that cavity. I think they were not used after 77ish as I can only see then on my mk1 van, the other 3 are 78 and 79s

ah ha, i would not have guessed that's what they were for. I'm suprised how rusty they were for that spot, given the floors were in good nic. I was planning to run the cabling inside the sidewalls of the van anyhow. Thanks marty, 10 points are in the mail.

this weekend seemd to be a little more productive. The Cam kit has apparently just made it through customs and is due later this week, so meanwhile it has been a case of just pushing through an endless list of small stuff. The copper brake lines are all done, I'm tempted to take them out and do them again for the hell of it, they where that enjoyable to do. We'll see if they leak. Fuel tank and lines are in, suspension is ready and bits slowly going back on: industrial charchoal filter!, new clutch cable, and fuel lines the dog likes to chew on... I dont know how many times i've painted this rocker cover, but it is going to stay orange. washer bottle and overflow bottle came up a treat:

I picked up a full length headliner off ebay 12 months ago, hopefully it fits. The bow are ready, and areas around the rood all cleaned and repainted. It might be good idea to run some strings under the headliner before it goes in, for wiring at a later stage. The wizzbang radio has reverse camera and dashcam also, so might need wiring up high for that. the roof vent is finally blended in and undercoated, came up ok considering I got the wiring loom yesterday which would have been a 1300/1600 version. Extending the alternator wiring is fine, but I think there's a difference also regarding the starter motors, one is intertia vs pre engaged, so that will need altering. It would be nice to do the testing with the ignition switch on the bench also, but its still in the car. i'd doo like Dave's garage did, just one circuit at a time and see how we go. I cleaned up some windscreens given to me by a mate, but they turned out to be MK2, and so won't fit the van. One had the original windscreen decal for the indicator stalk, and looked quite useable. If anyone is nearby can use or or both, thay are free to good home.

Just a small complaint, the fuel line should run on the passenger side with the Pinto, I've had a few lines melt and leak just by swinging then over the tunnel. Run it along the diff tunnel or along the tank then the chassis as the other side . Wiring loom is as you say different at the starter but that's easily rectified by extending the solenoid wires to reach , alt wire and temp, maybe oil wire also need either extending or shortening by pulling from loom, you could go full stealth and hide the wiring under the guard..... Nah.....

thats ok, can do that easily. I stuck it down that side as that's where is was previously (as a 1300/1600) and so was the 4 door from memory (but again, that started as a 1600 too I think). I'll swap it across. I was keeping the passenger side for the exhaust, I know the extractors are drivers side obviously, but thought it then swaps over around the diff hump, to avoid the tank. I'm glad we have eager eyes to spot my faults. It's much easier rectifying anyhting now than later down the track.

here's the dent that magically appeared in my bonnet, sometime after it was epoxied. I need one of Martys nail pullers, but i'll try some washers and homemade slidehammer sometime oh, and got the headliner bows fitted this morning before work. And some bits added to the loom for testing. The ignition and indicator stalks came out easily. Guess what the next missing item looks to be? The fusebox! I bought an updated blade type fuseholder to go in later, but would have liked to test it as original to start with. Tickets went onsale today for next years All Ford Day. So the deadline date is set, April 6th! https://allfordday.org.au/?fbclid=IwY2xjawFfCHxleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHUk_CmEVcR1vsnF418WChqnYk7o-R-RP31Gd59hPz1FtNHI3Hxqz84UAvg_aem_Uef5ZIj4W9p9SdxU1yhyRg

That's seven months away, you'll have clocked up a few thousand KMs by then ! That dent could be pushed out up to the bonnet slam panel, looks like a plank of box section fell against it. Tap it out with the back of an old screwdriver, the handle will be a good absorber and the shape should help get it close.

maybe. The dent is exactly above the inner front reinforcement skin, I was thinking the other way was to drill an access hole from below, and patiently tap it out, then plug or grommet the hole. Do you wanna install your Aero latches first so I can see how to do it? :) The easy part of the headliner install is done: It looks very pillowy inside now, and the vinyl smell is very 70's. I'll let it stretch out for a few weeks before gluing it tight and attempting the inner vent trim.

Hi Guys, Been a while (O/S etc). Following all your posts and van is looking good Deano. I fitted these Aerocatches to the Escort a while back. Pretty easy if you take your time and follow the instructions (think I found a pdf online). Mark
