ha ha guys.
Actually, nothing wrong with a nice glady.
I was impartial to the daisy's on the Scooby Doo mobile.

Anyhow.

Interesting ways to burn your garage down:episode 7:
My new $5 welding clip on torch from Ali Express was a bargain.
After charging it, I  then plugged in my trusty Nebo for a charge, using the same Ali usb cable.

After a two or so minutes, magic smoke was being generated from the lead, but I hadnt noticed, as I was back to cutting the radiator closing panel out.
Fortunately my daughter happened to walk in the shed, and caught my attention and we both saw what looked like a whispy smoke stream pouring off the cable.
I'm not sure if the USB fitted powerboard would have tripped eventually, but i'm guessing the Nebo's 18650 battery could take a larger curent draw when charging, simply beyond what the cheap lead could handle.

hope youze all had a grouse stayliaday

It must be a Lucas model
Yep I know a lot of Aussie companies (I deal with Gemcell) push Australian made and certified. Sometimes I feel they have an obvious hidden agenda and I suppose sometimes (as in this case) there is something in it?

Sorry for the loss of the type C cable !
Glad you didn't cook any cars, that would be devo ..
I usually bin the cords they supply as I've had one arc out at the phone end, lucky no damage to Android. Having Chinee stuff go spontaneous is becoming normal, prolly their brand plan to take over the world...!!

Speaking of Chinee appliances, this came in today, it's a plastic welder, only bought cause the grill on the Rally Pack is broken so I'll have a shot at seaming it back together. Could also use petg from the 3d printer stocks and use to like Tig welding filler maybe...

All good mate, I'll use what we got here, and I have a few grills to choose from if this one doesn't make the grade. Early days yet..

The remainign rear bubble arch is now massaged into shape.
Well, at least something that resembles the drivers side, and will allow the 15's to roll.

Happy with how it came out, it got a little more tweaking after this pic, and it's now covered under a skim of filler to blend in.
And the replacement gauge sheet came in, with new 5V voltage regulator. Just need soldering, the bulbs refitted and she can go back in the 4 door.

Deano, How big is the voltage regulator? just curious as my gauge guy does ones about small cigarette pack size housing. I just cable tie it away when installing the instrument cluster

thats the voltage reg pictured, so only 1cm x buggerall, and much smaller then the old one which was around 3cm x 2cm
I soldered the contacts yesterday, stuck it back in, but ony got the high beam globe light up.
Need to recheck the globes, and how the orientation of the housing across the embrane is.

Crikey that is tiny. I'll have to buy my guy some smaller boxes.
Good luck on the wiring then. Check the simple things first eh!

good news, the  Sport dash came up a treat.
The new membrane, voltage regulator and a decent clean of the contacts in the plug, and earth means I have a fully working dash again, with lights and all globes working. Much better.

The trailing arch of passenger side bubble annoyed me how it turned out, it had too much curve and didnt match the drivers side. So after alot of thinkign again, it got chopped:

And sat happily in that adjustment, apart from a small kink.

So I welded it:

But it still carried some 'return curve', and again, probably wasnt going to match enough, so mark a straight line in texta, and chop again:
I ran out of time, but it now just needs some tweeking on the lip with the hammer and dolly to blend in better.
That photo makes the back section really drop down straight, I dont think its that way in real life, it tapers better and it just a trick of the camera (I hope!)

Glad that is out of the way, as it means I can get back to filler and some paint fumes.
