Zetec Silvertop oil pump gears

Hi All
I pulled apart my oil pump to check the gears for wear etc and now a little confused.
When I removed the backing plate I expected to see the inner and outer gears with markings indicating either face up or down and these to be on the same side (as per most OEM pumps of this design).
However when observed the markings (dots) they were on opposite sides (first pic) which surprised me. The 2nd image shows the identifying dots. The only real difference is that there's a small chamfer on the ID of the inner gear which makes sense to provide some relief against the nose of the crank.
Question is, has anyone have or identified this issue or has someone got a Silvertop pump they can check for me?
