MK 2 Escort Switches

Hi All,
Want to cleanup a few bits in the RS- Have reasonable heater demister and hazard switches but one is missing ( function unknown )and the other is very faded- one with light/ clock on it? Have a couple of spare hazard ones if any one wants to swap/ sell to make up a full set. Thanks, Len

The one you mention is the Instrument gauge dimmer switch.

This one? ill check my spares but i know i kept the best for myself

Sorry my spare is essentially a blank its so worn. I believe the vic club do a repo sticker kit which includes stickers to replace these as id assume most are faded. Ive also seen someone with extreme patience hand paint them back to new.

Thanks, Robbie. I'll try to find something on the Web- RS owners club?  tried to find in the parts catalogue- There is a spot for a 4th switch-function? blank for an extra one if you want it? Any clues folks?

Remove the switch and resistor wire and install a PWM dimmer 😉

anybody a member of Vic RS club- membership is $60, waste of time and money for me in far Nth QLD just to be able to buy switch decals if they are available- Buy them through a club member if someone is willing? Any takers?  Thanks for the tip about the driving light kit, Phil, unfortunately the RS driving lights operate on the column stalk high beam switch, though could use a dummy one to fill in the gap.

    Hey Len,
Had a look in my shed and can't find any to pass on. They usually clean up like new with a bit of elbow grease, 2000+ grit paper or cutting compound when you do find a decent one.
I got my decal kit with the light stickers included from Spanner on this site, might be worth sending him a PM
    Cheers Drew

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for the tips, I'll try both avenues. I knew Spanner did sticker kits but didn't know there were some switch decals with them.

From what you have written I'm not sure if you are aware that when the car was new the position for the 4th switch would have had a blanking plate covering the hole, on the attached scan it is marked 13K732.

    Hi Phil,
Thanks for that, thought that might be the case. I had a switch in there which I used to prime my fuel system when I had a manual fuel pump, but now my electric fuel pump is hard wired . Switch is gone so might try to find one and use the decal for the driving light kit just to fill the gap so it looks period.

Looking at the diagram of the dash layout: Always amazes me how little there is to these older cars compared to the new cars and we were still very happy in them.
