Hello all, Anna did get in touch with me over the weekend with a shipping quote. $130 USD to the western USA via TNT if I pay via bank transfer, $170 if I pay via Paypal. Apparently, if paid via bank transfer, they can ship directly with TNT. With PayPal, they have to use an intermediate carrier, therefore the higher cost. They are on holiday this week. I'm not sure if she got back to BeeVee re shipping charges to Melbourne. She can have the bumper holes drilled/ undrilled for us. I'm going to take measurements over the weekend. Pricing is undetermined as the number of bumper sets is not set.
Regards,
RJ

Hi RJ, thanks for following up.
Sounds like we are both after identical items, mk1 f+r, no indicators.
I appreciated you measuring the spacings, it would be good if they come drilled.
Any ideas if the rear number plate light is pre cut also?
((mine has 1 cutout, centred)
maybe we give it a week of so, im not sure we have 7 sets.

Hi Guys

haven't heard from Anna yet re prices freighted to Melbourne; I'm sure she wont be long.

We better make sure "holes" in our full width bars are in correct place just for the "anchor points" as she doesn't do over-riders so no point getting those drilled if we can't use them.   Being SS, we can always drill our own over-rider holes if and when we want/find them, if everyone is happy with that ?

Does anyone know how close the shine from Anna's SS comes compared to new chrome ?

Attention Anna, please inform us what grade of Stainless Steel your supplier uses ?

Bernie

Hi BeeVee,
Yes I am in the United States, California. I have a 1974 Mark 1. In the US they came with bulky polyurethane covered 5 mph "safety bumpers", body colored but bulky. These stainless ones would give it a cleaner look for me.

Dont be shy RJ.....

.....show us pics of your car from all angles whatever model it is !

(hope it's a Capri Mk1, as we never got Mk2 or Mk3 Capri other than a handfull plus private imports)

We've never seen a Mk1 with anything but chromed steel bumpers here in Australia

Lol, thanks for the reminder BeeVee. I forgot about taking pics during process. (I usually take pics when something is done) It is a Mark I. For all I know, you all might like the polyurethane bumper covers. I'll try to take some tomorrow .

Good one RJ

I think the other members will agree we all prefer beautiful original chrome on steel here down-under is Oz!

I'm sure they will soon let us know whether I'm right or wrong!

Looking forward to lots of ur pics inside and out so we can see if there's vast differences in specs USA:AUSTRALIA

We're hoping the SS ones will shine just as much plus more rust-proof

Hello all, here are some photos where you can see front bumper views of a 1974 US Capri.  They were sold throUgh Lincoln/Mercury dealers here.  These bumpers came standard in the US on Mark 1’s from 1974-75.  In 1976-8 we got a Mark2 hatchback Capri. From 1973 and prior, we got straight across full chrome bumpers in several minor variations.  As far as I know, the RS was never sold here directly, but a few managed to import it.  I’ve heard that there is an RS model preserved at the Henry Ford museum in Detroit.  (Please forgive my painters tape, I’m working on the finish while we are all supposed to be sheltering in place).  I’ll attach rear and interior in another post.
Thanks,
RJ

Here is some rear bumper and rear car detail. The fake vent covers came black with a fake plastic chrome overlay.  Since mine started to peel, I painted them all black.  the Side molding is all black, it was a dealer installed option here. The window trim was chrome, which I blacked out about 20 years ago.  Should have kept it chrome, but I scuffed it for better paint adhesion, can’t go back unless I get new trim pieces or have them refinished.

Here are some interior photos.  The dealers here sold this interior as a “decor group”.  I’ve had a redo on the seats and the headliner.  The plush center inserts are a replacement for a fake perforated vinyl that ours came with.  The original steering wheel was a bulky 2 spoke, this one is a Momo.  You all seem to have yours on the wrong side? ( : ) )
its a Ford C-4 , 3 speed auto Mated to the 2.8 Cologne motor.  Eventual plan is to replace it with a Borg Warner T5.  It came with an  AM/FM pushbutton radio which I plan to replace, hiding a more modern unit in the glove box.

I forgot, the rear deck is a reproduction molded plastic piece sold by a company called “Team Blitz” in Ohio.  The owner is Norm Murdock, a Capri enthusiast for 40 years or more.  The part sells for about $160.
The wheels are by a company called American Racing, 13x7.  They were a popular make back in the day.  The badges are a repaint by a friend who builds custom model cars.  I obtained faded ones and showed him a picture of the original.
BV thanks for reminding me to take a pause and some photos!

Last 2 Pics.  It’s a 2 owner car, been in the family since new, bought by my wife in 1977.  it Was an original green, painted to charcoal grey metallic in the 80’s, now an early 2000’s BMW color called orient blue metallic.  It has a hint of purple in the dark blue metallic.

Hi RJ

Very good photography of a very nice car / The plastic bars def makes it look more modern which it really is being a 1977 model, which we never got. It's what I believe to be the Mk1 Face-Lift as we never saw 4 small headlamps. Our oval headlamp was identical to Hillman Hunter, VH Valiant, LH Holden Torana, etc. I am impressed with these fully sealed Lucas Oval Beams, compared to the rubbish out of India and 3rd world countries where no "engineering" or "optics research" took place; just poor copies as H4 semi s/b.

All our Aussie production was limited to Mk1 from 1969 to 1972; the vast majority being 4 cyl
None of our Mk1 saw your tail lamps as again; update from 1973 on.   I do prefer the early ones being smaller and surrounded by chrome to match the Bars, and they didnt seem to fade like so many other models, and being smaller and protected by a chrome frame , they weren't as susceptible to "damage" or chipping.

What sort of Carby was mandated for your area RJ ?  Our V6's were Weber 2bbl 40DFAV,  except our last 11 "specials" which were D-Port 165 HP with Weber 2bbl 38DGAS, of which I can't speak highly enough. Mine D-port V6 was in solid storage for 10 years, then 15 years with new owner who only drove round the block twice a year till I purchased car 7 years ago and needed ZERO Carby attention; bloody unreal !  (Makes me proud to be Italian!)  Good luck with any of that on any modern junk!

Love your wheels and great resto on those badges. Mine are faded badly; must find an artist to do mine

We had an exclusive colour scheme here in Oz, and my Capri colour is called "Wild Plum"

Hi Anna,
I think this thread has run its course now, and you probably wont see many more orders.
Given thats the case, can you please confirm final pricing in AUD, including shipping to each member, so that orders can be placed.

I will order:
1 set of 1971 MK1Capri bumpers, including 1 x rear, and 2 x front 1/4 bumpers, without indicator cutouts.
Please advise final price, private message me or just list it here, including postage to Geelong (Melbourne) and I will arrange payment.

thanks
Dean
