Throttle Cable Replacement

Has anyone replaced a throttle cable on a V6 Capri? It appears the outer is attached to the firewall behind the brake booster and with no room to get my fingers past the booster it seems almost impossible to get any sort of tool past the booster to undo whatever it is that attaches the outer to the firewall. The manuals I have (Haynes & Ford) are of no help.
Not sure if I'm looking at this the right way, any advice greatly appreciated.

The outer just sits in a short tube sticking out from the firewall. When the cable inner is disconnected from the top of the clutch pedal then the cable (inner and outer) should just pull out from the engine side.

Ooops, my answer is for clutch cable, sorry.

The sleeve is held to the firewall by a phillips head screw.  you will need a long phillips head screwdriver and maybe a small mirror to see it under the booster.
