who did your dash top Robbie? was it pricey? I have thought about the fibreglass repo ones, but would probably prefer to have it reskinned, your looks great

Dashboard Dr in Melb. Was 450. The one i had reskinned was pretty bad and i thought ready for the bin, they did an awesome job. Gotta pay to play i guess.

thanks for the info. Price is pretty fair, it looks a great job. If I decide to keep the car, I'll do the same once its been painted. Cheers

So it was a lovely day on sat i drove the car to work, on the way my fuel gauge stopped working, started again and now had decided to stop all together. Ive checked connections and they seem all ok, im pretty hopeless with auto elec so any hint on where to start would be great. From my quick reading it may be the voltage regulator on the back of the cluster, although the temp gauge is working as per norm. Second guess would be the sender unit, wonder if i can get that rebuilt if needed. Anyway have a random photo and ill keep people updated

Looking good as always... Electrics aren't my thing but you should be able to test the tank sender by hooking it up to the multimeter, you might need someone inside the car to let you know. There are companies that can fix senders, problem I had was finding the gasket/ o-ring to refit it if its rooted. I ended up making one out of a sheet of gasket cork. Cheers Drew

Thanks, i was going to ring Gaugeworks tomorrow and see if they can rebuild and from my facebook searching it appears a few in Melb can do the job, local would be an ideal solution tho. I did see that rarespares do a replacement sender for a XB that uses the same size gasket as the escort so that may solve that problem but ill have to confirm. Im such a stickler for the small things working this is going to drive me nuts. I might just chuck a 5l jerry in the boot as a back up plan.

Right time/right place. Thanks to Peter (GYRO) from the forums ive got some awesome new spot lights. I have some modern Navara ones and its always annoyed me as i know the original ones have FORD in the glass. Only reason i havent changed them is they actually work so well. Given the condition of these i dont even want to fit them, they are that good. Plus id have to cut that lovely loom. ARH Now my ocd is begging to change the spot light switch to match the oem ford driving lights symbol.

Gday Drew! Thats good to know that the indicators use the same harness, yes that would be great if i could grab your spare, ill cover the cost. then it is one less thing and keeps the oem light loom intact. Ive put a wanted thread up on one of the fb pages but no bites yet. Perhaps with this new info ill change the post and might have more luck. I have thought about some covers and was actually looking at some online the other week. Ive always loved the idea of these covers, given they are hard plastic but it has each of the RS1800s wrc wins on it, pretty cool. this is the car that got me searching for my first escort after never getting one in high school, its a big inspiration and something over the course of time im hoping to replicate (minus the BDG and flares). Maybe a duratec and standard body. This is the site i was looking at for the covers but i was put off a bit by the price. http://retro-racer.co.uk/

Ahh now look what you've done Robbie, I was looking for some covers for the rally car, that websites got some gems. Look like its lunches of vegemite sanga's for a while to pay for them PM me your details and I'll pop the plug in the post, it'll only be a couple of bucks so happy just to send it to help out, I dig the OEM look too and the car definitely deserves it.

Ha im already on a chicken and rice kinda diet to pay for some house rennos coming up.
Perhaps we could group buy from the UK to limit postage costs.
Ive made a post on the SA escort page and might have a lead on the loom plug, if it doesnt pan out ill get in touch.
