Capris at the Hillclimb

On the weekend, the Mattara Hillclimb was held in Newcastle, by the MG Car Club of Newy. As my RS2000 was not ready to race, I went along to spectate and shoot some photos. When I was there, I found these two masterpieces.

The maroon / black Capri is a V6 GT, while the yellow Capri is a V8 Perana. I don't know the owners or the cars, so I am fairly limited on information to what I heard by the announcers, so if the owners frequent these forums, let us know a bit about them!

If you like my photos and are interested in all the other types of cars there, you can check out my gallery of the days event at http://www.eurofordclub.com/gallery/Mattarahillclimb06

Other cars that were there included some awesome Beetles, an Evo 8, WRX, a bunch of Nissan / Datsun Zeds, classic Falcon / Torana / Commodore, new Peugeots, a Volvo 144, Porsche 911, some kit cars and buggies... all sorts!

I've also got a video of the Perana in action that I will upload too.

Regards, Timmeh

    Thanks guys.

One video of the V8 Perana Capri in action for anyone who wants to hear its sweet engine note:

Would have taken more but I was running low on go-juice for the camera.

Nice car, mate, looking good. Nice spot that the photographer got to stand for the last two photos, pity I couldn't get access to that partof the track for some shots as well!

I hope to have my RS2000 there next year, if not I'll be back to shoot more photos and enjoy the day!

    Glad people like the photos...

When it comes to photography, I am trying to do big things with little tools unfortunately. My camera is a Fuji S5500, which is about as close to a digital SLR as you can get without being one, but I really need a DSLR to improve my photography. The Fuji offers 10x Optical zoom which is great for a non DLSR, but on days like the hillclimb, the camera spent most of the day at or near maximum zoom and the results are not as high as I am used to.

You can see the quality difference in the images at normal zoom levels (such as the first photo of the GT and the last two of the Perana) versus the shot of the Perana at the starting line. The sun glare also caused a few headaches but the circular polariser did its job well.
