    I saw that and went what the. Shows it’s a Monday car. Hope the original owner got a discount.
    Do you think that plate values or devalues the car to a collector.

    Very interesting. I don’t think it would have any effect on value, but a good conversation starter at a car show.

    there's no mystery.
    If you look closely at the pictures, it's actually a Cortina that's been modified to look like a capri.
     
    (wouldn't you think they would have just trashed the id plate and restamped one at the time..?)

    No big deal there, the number 14 in the CK14KL Prefix code tells you it's a Capri Deluxe and after all, Capri's, Cortina's and Escort's were all coming down the same assembly line together back in the day at Homebush.

    I don’t think they could throw it and restamp. It’s highly regulated and could you imagine the issues if a plate was umm stamped badly and workers took them home.
    I worked on a lot where 100 Merc plates went missing. Everyone was grilled not only by police but Federal police as well.
    I think the car is overvalued being a 4cyl shell with V6 on offer.
