Fitting twin dcoe Carbs to escort mk2 1600-do I need to move the brake booster?

Hi guys

I’m currently in the process of fitting Twin dcoe 40s to my mk2 escort 1600x-flow and was wondering if the brake booster needs to be moved or modified to do so.
Iv currently have the Carbs and manifold ready to go I just don’t want to get caught out and have to wait weeks for parts to do the mods would rather have everything in place befor I start the fit out.
Any advice/recommendations will help
Thanks

Hi, I've never fitted twins to a 1600 in a mk2 but have done some 30 odd yrs ago in my mk1 1600 ...what the trick is, is to lower the booster gantry down about an inch or so (25-35mm) by undoing the 2 or 3 bolts under the vac booster attaching to the inner guard and lower it, just take note of brake lines etc. Redrill New holes and bolt back together maybe just buy a intake gasket as spare and do a test fit over the wknd..

Cheers mate I’ll give that a go. I was thinking about going for a bias peddle box but I’m worried about brake feel without any booster

A lot of us tuners use Datsun 120y master cyls bolted direct to the firewall . A bias box is ok for sports but for fast road go the 120y and run a Wilwood bias tap inline to the rear brakes if you have or plan to install rear disks
