ARM REST LOCATING CLIP
I have been unable to keep the top locating pin in place on the passenger side arm rest, kept popping out when using the handle to close the door. Pulled off the door trim and saw the tabs of the clip were flattened horizontally top and bottom. Had a go at trying to lever them back into position but couldn't get to them so ended up drilling out the rivets and taking out the clip, and flattened out the tabs as per picture attached. If any one has a mark2 Esky without a door card can they confirm the spring clip should be flat or is it slightly recessed in the middle ? Or maybe that will happen when the pin is pushed in again when I remount the armrest? Cheers, Len

Hi All,
As you would have seen from my post in the wanted section, Had no luck with my repair. While waiting for a reply to my wanted ad I took a punt on getting the armrest kit for an XA/XB Falcon, as they are the same style. Kit arrived and some mods were required. The hole spacings for the mounting had to be re-drilled As they were more widely spaced apart and I had to add an extension for the post on the armrest as the spring holder on the Falcon one is recessed, as against a flush fitting for the clip on the Escort.
Cut off a piece off an old aerial on the old boom box and araldited / crimped onto the original peg and fitted it all up. Bingo! Nice tight snug fit and wont be a drama if I have to take the door card off in the future.
