CAPRI MK1 SUNVISORS ....WHAT WERE THEY THINKING ?
What were they thinking when they designed the sunvisors to work in ONE DIMENSION on Mk1 Capri ????? ..........or were all the roads just in an EAST/WEST direction ? Does anyone know which are the best S/Visors to replace the one-way SV on Mk1 Capri please ?

The 72 had two way sun visors. The earlier ones were one way. 72 mounts on a clip on the mirror with a spring on the side windows to adjust it.

Hi all, as my LAST REQUEST FOR THE YEAR, if anyone out there has LATE 1972 ARTICULATED SUNVISOR PAIR, please let me knoW how much, as these "original" ones out of the Ark are downright dangerous. Meantime, I may have to super-glue a second FLAP on to mine to improve safety, which I'm loathed to do as it means "spoiling" a piece of history. Maybe CLIPS instead of super-glue !? HNY all Bernie

Sounds like u may have a 70-71 shell The 72 has holes for the sun visors as per the following pic The earlier shells as per next pic You'll have t drill the extra holes for the 72 visors

WOW! that's a bit extreme ! ...........hope ur wrong on that one ! I'd rather start at the other end and think positive that there's a chance someone's force fed a set of 1970 single plane Visors which is 100% more likely than re-shell. Over 100 experts have examined my matching tags and every one of them say they're genuine Must have a fondle of Stephanie Plum's roof REO panel and pray that extra 30-40 mm hole is there "Che Sera, Sera"

a re-shell is ok (to me). But obviously it's extremely important (over 100 people) to you. - Id be very disappointed in those people you engaged - over 100 - all that time, money and effort. Even one of them should have AT LEAST questioned silly things like this one. It could be an aberration (earlier visors on a 72 aust build - esp late 72) - but it would be just that and should have been at least noted by - even one of them. 72 aust builds had a lot of minor differences that should be picked up and pointed out to a client, if your going all out for authenticity (personally - I don't care, but ive never gone out of my way - in this sense - like you have. Your car is a very nice restorer - love it! - not fussed re the Stillwell or 72 stuff!) (your next prob will be finding a pair with the centre clip - not sure if escorts are the same - they are hard to get. The earlier ones you can get off ebay UK and were used in the facelifts)

Could it be like JR said in an earlier post that, as this was one of the last Australian builds, that they had simply run out of later sunvisors and used whatever was in the parts bin at the time? Happy new year to all, Terry

mk2 escort ones are a direct fit. I fitted visors, direct stick rear view mirror and centre clip from an escort to my 72. 100 experts and no one questioned the 1970 bonnet pins.

The visor holes are different on the 72. Probably adr made it mandatory they could move sideways. I don’t think it would of been possible they were changed in the factory. But afterwards is anyone’s guess.

Yes the swinging sunvisors and screen mounted rear view mirror is an ADR requirement for 1972 on. Mk1 Escorts and the TC Cortina were the same. I have the centre clip, not sure if I have sun visors though. Escort ones will fit. What rear view mirror is fitted to your car Bernie? The bracket type into the headlining, or the XA glue on type?

Hi John the Bracket type at headlining ........ this makes me remember a stack of Escort parts given to me 25 years ago ......which is another problem remembering if Visors were in the stack and where did I put them ........ this'll teach me for hoarding so many cars and parts that I have doubtful hope of unloading them via ebay in this lifetime. I should be grateful the WWW was ever invented, as what I have sold since 1990 via WWW, would have taken 5 times as long or more, via "ICPOTA" and The Trading Post via Newsagent , swapmeets, etc ! cheers

I was messing around with my 69 donor car today and its visors have roof mounted clips but they are able to rotate to the door side. Same for my 1970.
