Looks good from what I can make out. I’ve not found any information about the number stamped on the passenger inner guard, but my theory is it’s some sort of sequential assembly line number, e.g. your car could be the 4861st european based car assembled in 1970. It’s just a theory though.

Cheers
Jamie

Ahh okay than that could make sense,
I've contacted Ford and will get a call next week with all the details.

Why does Tags say CAPRI SED instead of CAPRI V6 ?  .....or is this one of Fords inconsistencies ?

From what I've researched the 1970 model has Capri Sed on the compliance plate, I could be wrong though as I'm far from an expert yet haha.

Yes I'm very happy with the find,
I had a wanted ad up, expecting to get a 1600 but after a few replies this one came through and I couldn't resist. It's very clean for rust, and the lines are very good.

Just took a bit of thinners to the bonnet bulge and there is no black under neath, appears to be diamond white.
Which indicates it could be a 'Delete Option' model
If it is the original paint

If you take off the right headlight cover, you MIGHT find a thin metal tag wired to the inner mounting hole.  Its made of like coke can material and is hand written Delete pressed in with a scribe.  My Teal Glow (now Paul Mac's) had this.  There is an untouched Delete owned by a guy that used to frequent this foeum called "Originality" or something like that.  His was a 72 Summer Gold Delete.

The badges on your Diamond White car are in the correct place for a car ordered in Delete form.  You may have had a blanking plate over the radio hole and no mirror on the passengers door.  Pretty sure that the grille and sills were black though even though there was no bonnet patch

Capri The car I always promised myself

Okay, ill have to have a look, you happen to have a pic of what im looking for?

Thinking mine came with the original radio thats in it as it has the original radio manual and radio service centre booklet. Passenger mirror seems original but i guess it couldve been added over the years. Hmm interesting that the sills mayve been black, as im hoping to take it back to be original as possible.

Brought it sight unseen, was over 2000km away.
Glad I brought it though😊

Interesting thought Jamie, but I've been told before that it had something to do with options fitted to the car! The sequential assembly line number is the last 5 digits of the Chassis ID number, eg., CK17LS15496P, where the 15496 was the 15,496th vehicle assembled at Homebush. These numbers were allocated as they came down the line and were used consecutively for all models at the time, be they Escort, Cortina or Capri. Furthermore, on my old 1971 GT/V6, now resident in Mascot, NSW, it had 429 stamped on the LH inner guard. That's her Chassis number above and she was built in August, 1971.

You've got me thinking now Terry! That is the lowest passenger side stamping I've seen, and given the year/month your car was built it throws my theory out of the water. The options thing could be a better lead to follow.

Cheers

Can't be an options thing either.
The RS2000's had the same build options from Homebush. However the number stamped on the passengers side inner guard were all different.

But the RS2000s were a lot later assemblies than the Mk.1 Capri (1969-72), Mk.2 Cortina (1968-1971) and Mk.1 Escorts from 1971 onwards!
The RS2000s local assemblies didn't happen until 1979.
