1600 running very rich.

Hi members. My 1600 with down draft Weber is running very rich on idle. Any recommendations on how to fix. Thanks in advance.

What size weber is it? and was it on the car originally? did it run? or what has it come off previously?
Is the choke on or partially on (happened to me before)
how old is the air cleaner?
You could adjust the mixture screw, just record the setting so you can set it back to its original position if needed, then start tuning.
If its off another car it may need jetting.
That should get you started... Drew.

32/36. Brand new carb. Brand new engine(hot roadie). 50 and 55 in the idle jets.

50 - 55 sounds about right. Next will be mains, my books saying 130 - 135 for 2ltr but that should be about right for a hot pushrod, after that air correctors but can't find any sizes in my book.
Mixture wise I haven't tuned with these for a while, playing with the idfs you lean the mixture out until it pops or coughs and work up from there...

Found a bit of info in a Cortina manual on 1600 jetting size bare in mind its a 32 DFM but should be fairly similar.
    Mains 150 - 155
    Air correction 160 - 140
    Emulsion F6
    Idle 50 - 45
    Pump jet 60

Did you buy the carb from Weber performance Australia?

The jetting is generally a "one size fits all" out of the box. Avoid them for spares, whats on the site isn't always whats in stock and you'll be stuck waiting. Try Parts Den on ebay, never been messed around by them.
    Cheers Drew.
