its a factory fit on them late 72 on:

its a metal angle which is screwed to the slam panel and carries a seal - to stop air flow btn the bonnet and slam panel - so directing air past the grill and thru the radiator. Ford obviously added them to aid in cooling efficiency:

Heres one on my 73 GT:

Might help stop bonnets flipping up in the breeze too!

WTB: Recaro seat - any condition considered

Owned a few late 72 and none of mine ever had one. Never seen one with it but haven’t really looked on any of my cars not knowing it before. Cheers.

Spud I see you might have used air powered grinder to remove the paint, if you don't have a compressor grunty enough to run one, any suggestions in an efficient electric alternative?

I would have probably tried just the DA 115mm sander, but is was hoping for faster suggestion.
(need to do the same on my escort when the time comes, full car)

thanks

Anyway, this one is done. (At least the pic shows the paintwork - yummy!) at least it’s something different to australian 2020 standard choice of white/grey/silver- 😩 -

It runs, drives and stops - the factory power steering is a nice addition. D port motor, Facelift box, single leafs etc.
Has a white high back interior. I’m running the mags off the RS3100 - till I get around to fixing that Car up - it’s a nice little car actually.

Well done spud.

Did the same on a car 20 years ago after I did rust repairs and it's still going like new paint with no more rust coming thru at F or r of panels !
