Mk1 Bumpers

I am currently going through the process to get my mk1 escort registered in SA as a dedicated rally car. Part of that process is to have the car inspected at Regency (department of transport). I do not run the car with any bumpers but i suspect that they may have issue with this. IF that happens is there anybody (in SA) who has some rubbish old bumpers for sale or who is willing to lend me some for 2 weeks? ??

I have a rear bumper for rent, might have a front bumper still on a car. . I don't think they will chase that as its not structural like modern cars, just make sure the bkts are all removed as well. .(for pedestrian safety) ..

I got picked on first inspection for not having front bumpers In Vic.

I got a cheap set of fiberglass 1/4 ones but have since bought stainless jobbies.

It's crazy that no bumpers were not acceptable, but metal protruding brackets, lightly covered by flexible fiberglass offering zero protection to pedestrians or car were. Go figure.

I should still have the fiberglass ones somewhere that you can have for post if you get stuck? Just have to make up some brackets.

Hey lads.  Thanks for the offers.

I will present the car as is but if they do knock it back I will contact you both.

I agree that it is stupid if these cars do need the bumpers as they are probably more dangerous than not having them!!

Maybe you should call the checking station about the bumpers , just so it won't be a waste of time and money .

Hey mate. I might have a spare bumper you could borrow to get through regency if you need. Just let us know.

As my next event is only 2 weeks away I made teh decision to remove some stress from my preparations and to use an unregistered vehicle permit rather than get the car rego'd (via scrutineer and regency).

I have some kind offers above if I need them.  I will get the car inspected most likely December or the new year.
