Beginner looking for some advice

Hi guys, so this is the first time I've posted on a forum.

When I was 17, completely in over my head I had his great idea to get a project car. I bought a Mk1 escort, 4 door and got to work stripping it, got a new engine, pulled it apart, put it back together and had a great time. eventually though, I couldn't afford to go much further and lost interest. I since moved overseas, but now I'm home and I want to finish this thing so my dad can have his shed back. I'm pretty good with the mechanical side of things but as far as body work goes, I have no idea what I'm doing and I don't want to mess it up. Theres some rust in the passenger side floor, and a little bit on the roof, next to I guess you would call the gutter. and theres a dent in the rear just above the wheel well.

any advice would be greatly appreciated or maybe if someone could point me in the right direction as to where I might be able to get some of the work done which I might not be cut out to do. I currently don't have any photos cause its at my old mans place but will try upload some ASAP.

Welcome to the forum.  Where are you located ?  Replacement floor panels are readily available if you have to go that far, depending if you can cut and weld. Depending on where you are other forum members might be able to recommend someone to do the job. Cheers, Len

welcome, we look forward to seeing some of your photos.
Lots of welding guys can give you some tips if you want to post some photos of the problem areas you mentioned.
As Len said, you can get many repair sections for the common  Mk1 problem areas, which you probably know, and don't necessarily have to purchase from overseas.

Glad you kept the Mk1, when I read your post I expected to read you sold it off and were looking to get back into it..

You should have no worries picking up welding. Theres heaps of tutorials on youtube that will get you started, then just practice welding scrap, cut it in half and weld it back together, repeat. Its amazing how much practice you can get out of one bit of metal. Any questions just ask, theres some very handy metal workers on the site.
    Cheers Drew.
