WTB MK2 Escort Pinto Starter motor

Just looking to see if anyone has a spare Bosch Pinto starter motor for sale.

My 2L Pinto Escort refuses to crank. I replaced a cracked solendoid cap, but it still wont try to turn over.
Solenoid now tests ok on the multimeter, so looked at the starter motor next and found the brushes look pretty suss, 1 in particular.

So its either find some replacement brushes, get it reco'd, or see whats available secondhand.

many thanks

This years mary jane crop was a failure and the money tree has been pruned already.

    thanks for the offer Whools.
I checked ebay, gumtree, trade me etc, but found sfa, and dropped mine in to the local auto sparkie.
He only charged $8 for the solenoid cap last week, so I think he's pretty fair.
(plus hes a nice old school guy, still working and felt better giving him some $$ than just going o/s).
Will let you all know when it back going, fingers crossed.

all sorted! I now have a moving escort again.
So my starting issues did end up being the starter brushes. It now cranks faster and sounds happy doing it.
$22 to have 4 brushes fitted, and the armature machined clean. Apparently there's a bush towards the pinion end that I didn't have either, it must have broken away at some stage. so my auto elec couldn't stick it back together.
I was going to try and make one, but enter sparky no. 2, who has one left in stock. He reassembled, supplied the missing bush, and  also machined and pressed in a brass bearing/bush into the end housing. Cost: $30.
So rebuild all up $60 inc parts and solenoid cap. thanks to 2 nice blokes, Gordon Ave Auto electrics, and Franks auto electrics, both in Geelong
    Happy days.

mate you want to try doing it on a boat!

Solar panels, regulators, battery isolation switches, battery monitors, invertors, let alone 240V and water.
Still trying to figure how to keep the earth lead down into the seabed.

(no actually I found wiring my boat up from scratch easier than the car ((no 240V though))
I agree though, definitely a portion of wizardy is needed especially when it can come to fault finding.
Logic sometimes only goes so far..

Dash lights not working could be a few things. .earth wire not having contact or broked , just use a length of wire from the body/metal panel and to the back of the cluster. . Other problem can be the fuses in the fuse block might have mild corrosion, sometimes just spinning them in their holders gets them back operational. . Or give a quick sandpaper top bring up new contacts. ...
