front shocks

Hi,
My mechanic has advised replacement of my front shocks, apparently the front is loose, has anyone any preferences or advise on what to use and where to get them, a couple of places are listed as suppliers of Gaz shocks in Melbourne or Repco for Munroe.
Thanks
John
