RUST-RIDDEN SCRAP METAL FOR MEGA BUCKS !

Next time you wince at the price of any panel or part for your car, think of the sanity or insanity people are paying for RUST-RIDDEN SCRAP METAL being passed off as a "Project" or "Restorable" and other choice adjectives.............this one forced me to highlight a case in point: A UC 1978 Torana which was never available as a V8 from memory, but no matter, as this is going for $4,000.oo with NO Engine or Tranny...........described as a rolling shell with Panels, Trim and Upholstery missing, as well as much metal missing! ........to be clear, I love all cars regardless of Make n Model, but most people in 2017, inc myself, would think one would have to be young, well endowed financially as well as testicular, be very knowledgable in welding/panel-beating, and have much spare time on their hands, before taking on such a "mission impossible". Panels, parts, and trim in any form, are rarer than rocking horse doo-doos, and if found, are moon-money...........in my humble opinion !

    When you see what the UK guys have been restoring for years now, and what they pay, it's no wonder our prices are going up even for what would've not long ago been seen as basket cases.
     
    I'm sure most of us have scrapped cars we would happily restore now, and by todays standards, weren't that bad.

    Peter, I'm sure we ALL have mental issues, inc moi ! .......... but I spent 95% of my leisure time attending to beautiful girls' bodies and 10% to car bodies, as girls company was infinitely more pleasurable !
     
    Instead of spending hundreds of hours on basket cases that in most cases will never be original again, I purchased the same cars in good ORIGINAL condition for similar money people were/are paying for basket cases, under the theory "work smarter & shorter - not harder & longer". Ergo 20 cars in my "stable".
     
    My criticism was mainly aimed at spending obscene money asks for basket cases that even Simsmetal would knock back due to lack of metal which is now replaced by fresh air and detrimental irrepairable rust, and then topped off by being devoid of a power plant and majority of parts missing !
     
    Life'd be boring if we all did the same thing............what makes us all different: not better or worse
