It's coming along very nicely Paulie - should be a very clean car once it's finished. Certainly looking forward to checking out your progress in the flesh come June. I'm sure I'll be "made" to get my hands dirty while I'm over there!

That is a very very well done job. Lots of paitence required but will be well worth it in the end.

Was at the hardware store the other day and spotted a cheap can of gold wheel paint so it got me thinking....... After a couple of minutes I came up with this comparison Download Attachment: Black and gold small.jpg97.57 KB To be perfectly honest I had already discarded the classic gold centre as being "done before" but after seeing it against the black I think it's my preferred option at this stage. Placed on a white car I think it should look pretty sweet. When Sean places his order for new wheels my gold V4's will be even less common

Sorry Paul, I think I still prefer the black in this instance. Ive never been a fan of gold rims on a white car (but thats just me I guess). Black, charcoal or silver/grey on a white car would be my choice.
You did do a nice job of painting that wheel though

I agree with Sean, but its more because I'm not a fan of gold rims, and I'm a massive fan of black centres.. I'll be inetersted to see how the colours compare on the car, I think with a white car the black might look better

Oh bugger! Well, I guess I'm painting each pair with the alternative colour and placing them on either side At least it's only a 5 minute job to change until I confirm my final choice. Thanks for your opinions lads

I have considered PS Phil but sometimes it does not give a true to life representation unless you play around with lighting etc. The way I work around in PS it's quicker to paint the wheels Oh, the photos do the painting a major favour - it aint that good up close Sean [:I] I personnally don't mind gold on a white car but that's me.........

Paul so far Im still on the Charcoal or a dark silver train. Although out of the black and gold I prefer gold.
I have a set of rims at powdercoaters now being painted silver pearl, so hopefully once I get some paint on this RS I can send you a photo to see how good/bad it contrasts.

I do think gold does the detail in those wheels the most justice. Progress is looking good.

OK, has been a while.........[:I] Recieved my GSXR throttle bodies today so I can begin on the inlet manifolds to mount them to a DCOE pattern. They're from a 2000 - 2003 GSXR750/1000 so they can be seperated into individual assemblies and spaced accordingly to match the 90mm bore centrs of the weber mounts. Currently the centres are 80mm but manufacturing new spacers to go between each assembly will fix that The bores taper from a 49.28mm inlet to 41.75 on the butterfly end so they should be plenty for my mild Pinto. I just need to remove the secondary butterflies and plug the holes in the body which is a simple task as they're not required. I picked these up REALLY cheap as they're just "blanks" with no injectors / fuel rails etc. They will be fine for now as I have another full set coming soon I have got prices for the laser cutting of the flanges for the alloy manifolds which will attach via silicon hose. I'm trying to make this as asthetically pleasing as practical also Here are some initial pics of them and I will post others as I progress. Spent about an hour dismantling the throttle bodies to get them to the state below - plus 30mins in the hot wash at work I have removed the secondary butterflies and shaft which was pretty straight forward along with the associated linkages. I estimate I'll require 10mm "packers" to get the correct DCOE spacing as mentioned previously. The only real problem is figuring out how to link up all the individual butterfly shaft linkages with the wider spacing [8] Download Attachment: Individual 1.jpg 72.52 KB Download Attachment: Individual 2.jpg 74.28 KB Download Attachment: Individual 3.jpg 79.6 KB
