Mickas Because I have been down the track with these pistons before. With this exact piston, or just this brand of piston?

With the exact JE piston for a blacktop zetec. I wouldn't warn him unless it was the exact one....

So what CR would I expect with the exact configuration I mentioned above? What is the Zetec head CC?

Hi Paul, I like the gearbox mounts. Again another neat solution. Let me know if you are mass producing as I would be keen given the quality of your rear disc conversion. Cheers Matt

Hi Matt Stay tuned for the completed gearbox cross member as I'm expecting to have it temporarily in place during the week. If you like what you see I can surely knock you up a kit :-)

It was standard cc head, which I can't remember as it was a while ago. And as for the compression was over 12. Why are you so interested Wozzah?? Are you going down this route and scraping your BP engine??

Are you going down this route and scraping your BP engine?? No chance of scrapping the BP :). Just curious, I have 2 Zetec heads and one complete engine on the go at the moment and I'm looking at your figures and comments and wondering how you got 12:1 as neither of the ones I have are even close to that, and I have found that most of the aftermarket piston brands actually understate the figures, not over state them. From your comments it seems you have had problems and I'm interested in the figures that you came to that conclusion, and the measurements of the piston crown that lead you to the conclusion that there wasn't enough material to machine anything off them so I don't have the same problems. As in the previous post I have temporarily secured the box sections (rivets) which will be the new gearbox cross member mounting points. They will be welded once I'm happy. They also follow the angle of the mount (lower at the rear) rather than parallel to the floor as not to deform the rubber gearbox mount once it's in place (as seen in the side on shot). I'll mock up a cross member from thin plate and once I'm happy I'll have the final cut from 3mm plate. It'll have a square "U" shaped cross section for rigitity - eg l______l I may also need to weld in a recessed section into the side of the tunnel to get the desired clearance around the speedo drive extension. Hope that all makes sense

I thought I'd post a pick of the original mount that came with the donor vehicle from where I got my Celica concersion parts. I'm assumming it's the Dellow supplied "custom" mount to suit the original Escort mounts when using an AUTO tunnel. It's a real nice piece of work and it's a shame I have the manual tunnel

Wozzah is yours a Black Top or Silver?? We found the Aussie, UK, USA engine specs to be all a little different with the Zetec's... My trusted Cylinder Head guy did all the measurements... When I get around to It I will recheck it all... I was going N/A then changed my mind to Turbo, Thats why I changed the pistons obviously... But when he did the measurements on the 9.0's I got It was still too high for turbo... Even with the thickest safest head gasket my engine will be very torquey off boost...

OK - little progress (on my part anyway) but the head is now with Warren Heath to weave his magic. Porting has began and the valves have arrived which means the guides can be replaced so the machining/ porting can continue They're nothing OTT but are 1mm oversize which match the Blacktops 33 / 29mm items although these have a waisted stem to assist flow. I will try and get some pics of the work so far..........

Spent a small amount of time under the car mocking up my gearbox Xmember. This is made from 1.2mm plate for ease but the propper one will be profile cut from 3mm and the sides folded up for strength - similar to this one although maybe only 5mm. At the moment it's not 100% as it appears the passenger side mount is slightly lower (when compared to drivers side) but I think it's the floor section deformed from the trans tunnel "massaging" done to clear the Celica box. Once this is all finalised the engine and box will come out to alllow me to fix little things like that, tidy it up and fit everything properly.
