Standard MK2 Drop Tank

Hey guys,

Just trying to remount my drop tank and not sure if I am missing something.
Wondering if someone would mind taking a couple of photos of one in position.
In particularly how the straps mount to the car to hold the tank in place.

Sorry no pics but the "T" shaped end of the strap locate in a slot at the rear and bolt up at the front from memory.

    Cheers

    Hey Paul,

Thanks for that as that is exactly what my brain told me when I saw the straps. Got under the car yesterday however and the car as the t-shape receivers at both ends. No place to bolt to. This will be another me doing something stupid so will look at it again tonight and try to work it out...

    Image copied from Ford IPL.
The rear of tank straps clip into eyelets on rear underside of floor pan.

That is amazing. Thanks Peter. Pictures, especially the exploded diagrams make such a difference. As i have said on some of my other posts when i ask questions like these, i bought the escort fully stripped so am guessing my way back through the re-assemble. Now to see if i have those little hooks that join the car to the straps!

Ah. Just found those 2 hooks in a box of bits wondering what they were.

This brings to mind my search a while ago to track down someone on the forum who has the complete Escort parts book on CD. Got directed back to the old site but couldn't get an answer on who to contact.  More than willing to pay to get a copy , as I'm sure other members would too.  it's great that some forum members can post these diagrams as required by specific questions, I needed one of these to properly re-assemble the twin headlight setup on my RS.
So, long term members - can you scratch some old brain cells and come up with an answer, this might be up your alley, Paul- as the moderator.  Len

Yes this topic has been discussed several years ago.

The "Ford Escort Mk2 Spare Parts List Final May 1990 with Imported RS2000" copied from Ford microfiche to CD is available from a former forum member.

If you are interested in a copy I will chase him up and let you know how to contact him.

If not I will copy for you.

Thanks , Peter, appreciate that. Details of how to contact this guy is fine.  if I have any difficulties with doing that I will PM you and we can work out something from there.  Thanks for the piccie, You probably sent it to me when I made the original enquiry.  I was just using that as a case in point, that members are willing to put up diagrams to help others when required.
    Cheers,
    Len.
