Your tag is Mresky so we can assume that we are talking Escort. Prostitch in Sydney do them but long waiting time and nearly $900 a pair just for the fronts. Aldridge in the UK do nice ones, though they are a slightly different style, also Motobil in Germany . Don't know what the exchange rate is like at the moment but seemed cheaper , though freight is a killer. Try t get other stuff at the same time or do a group buy to get as much stuff as possible for your freight cost. See the posts in the Capris section, they have a similar problem. Len

I'm not poor, so I must be a tight-arse; there's no way I'd part with anything similar to $900 of my hard earned on 2 door cards, unless they were new factory originals and the project justified this level of expense/extortion ! And on top of that waiting months for them to supply at THEIR convenience........not while my bum's pointing downward and I can do as good as I can with 2 my hands and some masonite and cover materials from wherever............just sayin'!

True. If you can soak the wonky areas in really hot water for a while they can be reshaped, gently and carefully, any warped areas can have a good flat surface to rest on, with a good flat sheet on top and heavy weights, will flatten out nice and straight again. Did this on my current set and came out quite nice, did a post on the process - Under my RS project posts. Main problem is the roll top section, and always on the drivers side door!! Len

From memory some Aussie Escorts have covering across the top of the inner door, UK ones do not. If you are going to order from Aldridge look carefully at the photos. BTW the $900 is for a full set of cards not just 2 doors, you get the rear cards as well. regarding bulk purchases, once the order is over $1000 AUD then you get hit for customs tarriffs GST and handling costs. My last order was $4000 I got $496 of unexpected charges ones they landed

UK had two types of door cards - the 'Custom' ones roll over the top of the door like Au cars.

I bought a pair of door cards from Aldridge in the UK. Also got a new hoodlining kit + back seat cover. Very impressed with all the products although am yet to get the hoodlining put in, so time will tell on that one. Door cards are bang on for fit and finish. Flighter is correct, the custom door cards have the wrap over top finish. While the standard door cards so they finish about an inch or two below the glass. Not fully installed yet but did do a proper test fit...

Yes I got stung over $2300 for importing a gearbox this year just in Australia alone. I bought a gearbox off EBay for $300 Au dollars and paid all up $880 to the seller with exchange rates and delivery. Then when it got here added the $2300 charge. So my gearbox is well worth over $3180 for something that was 175 pounds in England and under our $1000 rules. Thank heavens they didn't add the figure off $2300 on here or I would have paid duty on top for another %22.

Yeah customs fees/duties on international purchases is unpleasant. Have read what happened to you Wiggy previously and yours is definitely up there on the worst case scenario. So far on all my international imports the only 2 that got picked up at customs and required additional payments was my stage 2 retro ford zetec conversion kit and another order that included most of my front suspension including front struts. So the biggest/heaviest orders i have made. Everything else has slid by including my aldridge order. Not to say its a rule, but the lighter more reasonably sized items seem to be getting through. As for purchases below $1000 being GST excemp, didnt they remove that? I thought everything was now GST applicable and it was just whether it got picked up or not on the way through?

Not that I'm aware of. They were just contemplating it but it would not happen as they can't search every parcel or chase it up now let alone packages worth $10. It also would mean that overseas sellers would need to be registered with the ATO to pay the GST which is impossible and finally trade online and from imports would take a huge dive which is good for manufacturing and our economy but you know we can't compete in many ways nowadays. Catch 22. All I learnt is I could have brought in a whole container for the costs, just would have to pay more tax but far cheaper. Happy Christmas

Cant fault the Aldridge quality and delivery times, very smart indeed, however they do not do the course grain vinyl if you are a stickler for originality

Website has some picture, probably some better ones if you get Classic ford magazine, most of the RS2000's have them fitted. Len
