Capri Perana steering wheel

Doing some clean up work over the weekend and tried installing the indicator cancellor on the Perana. To my complete disgust I found that the whole steering wheel is stuffed and some one tried to fix it with pop rivets. Now I don't know about you but a car with no power steering and lots of power should NOT be fixed this way. Can anyone shed some light on where to find a replacement.

Thats not a Perana steering wheel, the centre cap looks OK, but the Peranas had a steering wheel like very early Mazdas.  If you want to replace the wheel you have, look for old school SAAS like this  http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SAAS-SPORTS-STEERING-WHEEL-/371811146094?hash=item5691abd96e:g:nFMAAOxy~g5Rrdq~

Cheers but not right. All Perana wheels I've seen look like mine. I have seen what JR suggested but not on all vehicles. Most seem to look like mine.

The steering on a Perana is really stiff. I think it's because of the reverse steering rack making the uni joint work at a much greater angle than standard Capris. Add the extra weight maybe but not much more than a V6 and she is very hard to turn and park. I want to try some bearing strut tops to help out but haven't gone that far yet. It could be welded but I still don't know I would trust it. Certainly don't want to be steering round a corner and have it fall apart in my hands that would be catastrophic. I don't mind fixing it as a spare but I think a new replacement is the way to go. I've put a standard wheel on for the moment and as they are a bit bigger it instantly is easier to steer. I might get my machinist to weld it up as I don't trust my welding in such a critical area.

If it was mine I'd machine up a 4-5mm donut to fit the flat mounting and have 20mm tabs that follow the spokes to add extra strength to the steering wheel and have it tig welded (and plug welded) especially if it's Ally , that'll future proof it

It's alloy and someone tried the doughnut but pop riveted it in. I suppose the thing is the leather around the wheel is perfect so worth saving if possible.

After a bit of discussion on other platforms it seems that this wheel is in fact an Original Perana steering wheel and vey rare. It has a fourth hole hidden by the leather. So lucky I didn’t throw it away.
Now to fix it by taking it to a proper alloy welder (that’s not me for sure).
I’m thinking weld the sucker back as best they can then add a doughnut welded all round.
Any thoughts welcome or advice on who to use doesn’t matter where they are as long as it’s done well. Cheers.
