the webber looks..... different [:x)].
Have you put the air cleaner on it yet. Mind only just fits and mine sits down lower, below the strut top bump.

Yep its definately different to normal way of doing it. Will only be able to run a ramflo style filter with bottom half of it bent clear strut tower. It does look a little tighter in pics than it probably is though.

haven't driven it yet, only driveway action. Throttle response seems to be as a result of the carby.

Still have petrol pooling issue though, so too scred to put filter on incase it backfires, then I'll have a nice fire.

Thumbs down for 45mm sidey! Its coming off tomorrow.

Can't say its all carb fault as it wasn't perfectly jetted to engine.

At the end of the day, I had the parts sitting round and got that weird style manifold so decided to try for myself.
Car possibly went marginally better but thats clutching at straws. Not worth spending the $'s on rejetting and dyno anyway.

Next stop....38DGAS

As a side note that manifold was icy cold after a few km's off "testing" yet the standard inlet its joined to was hot.

Rhys - mate - seriously[:u][88][;^)] you cannot just slam on a new weber with random chokes/jets/emulsions/air correctors etc and expect it to just work,[:-(] too many variables...thats like grabbing doors from an Escort, bonnet from a capri, boot from a cortina and expecting it to all line up to make a perfect car.[88] Sure they might go on, but they won't fit quite right.[;^)]

I went to the dyno with 88hp atw and left with 163hp atw and my car drove well before, just lacking the potential power. (2 dyno sessions to get that figure, we changed chokes/jets/correctors and emulsions to get the right combo.

...alt, just get injection...yummy

Mark- your right,
This is why I said "can't say it's all the carbs fault because it wasn't perfectly jetted to the engine".
Although it ran and idled like it was built for the car, there was not many other gains-this would be due to what your saying.
But from feedback on these already (mostly bad) I had to try it for myself and from where it was all heading it wasn't worth my time or effort to pursue it any further given the fact I've got a got 32/36 that wasn't giving me any issues to start with and a 38DGAS thats next to try which are both jetted for the 2lt, so decided I'll stop wasting time and (what would turn into money) on the 45mm.

It was just a bit of trial and error backyard mechanics

Backfires certainly do happen, especially with fuel pooling. Not sure if you ever saw the photo of my RS backfiring:

When it comes to the Weber, it looks like you've got stuff all space there for some trumpets - surely the sidedraughts work better with trumpets?

I'm having problems with my RS2000 synchronous 40s pooling fuel and backfiring, but it hasn't had a dyno tune yet, as Mark says, they need some tweaking to really get on song. In your case, I'm not convinced that setup will ever produce peak power due to the space limitations there with regards to trumpets.

38DGAS is on and working a dream. Reset timing, and changed vac advance part on dizzy as the one that was on it didn't work at all.

So running all good now with no pinging evident. Great throttle repsonse.

Timmeh, yeh theyre great action pics, I've had experience at what damage a backfire can do to an engine bay and bonnet.

Am I being stalked? Its on its way, at this stage I'm just gathering some extra parts I need. Then its a Matter of time and money to get them together into a working package[:I]. Got lots of ideas, but not much else to back them up at this stage. Only time will tell if I can get it to eventuate.

Haha Are all these 'ideas' for this car?

I was waiting for a reply from the guy as what exactly was included! And btw what is included?

Then I had a look today at it was gone!

The user name just clicked and I thought it was you![:x)]

Sorry mate. Yeh I bought it for this car.
Included is everything except injectors, and sensors he tells me. I think I still have all the standard sensors stored still from my other Escort(hoping).

Sadly I've sold this car to make way for the RS. All I have to say is, if anyone's selling a genuine Rally Pack - don't sell to the first person that comes around
I was amazed at the interest this car drew.

Some farwell happy snaps will be up soon.
